The ex-Republican representative said the content being published in right-wing media “has no relation to any forensic copy attached to a Hunter Biden laptop” and “looks ... to us” as if “most of the data is curated” in a way that is “almost like a mixtape of multiple data sources that’s gone through the hands of 30 or 40 people”.
“A lot of the things they say are not validated and ridiculous, and we’ve found cases of fabricating data,” he said.

Congressional Republicans suggest a former IRS agent is proof DOJ slow-walked its investigation. But there may be a simpler explanation.
One thing he says is that agents (like the IRS or FBI) are not necessarily aware of some of the things prosecutors look at when deciding to proceed with charges.
Basically, Weiss may have thought that the allegations were not worth the investigation. Keep in mind, we do not have all of the facts about this investigation beyond what has been shared. We don't know how credible the allegations were.
And, let's face a few things. The GOP has been planning on impeaching Biden since January 21, 2021. So far they don't really have a solid reason to do so. So, the next best option is impeaching Garland, regardless if there is no evidence that he did anything wrong. My guess is they hope to make the DOJ look really bad before Trump's likely conviction. They are hanging this up as an example of a "weaponized" DOJ...despite the fact that Trump called for the IRS & FBI to audit or investigate his rivals, which would have been a major abuse of power, and which former chief of staff Kelly says happened more than once. It is interesting how James Comey and some others got serious audits after being fired by Trump...
I also want to point out the Weiss, the Trump appointed US Attorney, denies what Shapley says. Why would he lie? If he nailed Biden to the wall, he'd be a GOP legend. Instead, this was about as anti-climatic as ED....
However, I do think it is fair to ask why certain leads were not followed. It could be for a number of reasons, like there is an inability to get evidence (like if there was a China bank connection, they might not release any information). But I trust Garland. You can see the restraint he has imposed on the DOJ as it investigates things like January 6th and even Trump's documents case. If the DOJ was truly weaponized, they would have raided Mar a lago months sooner. Why didn't they? Why did they give Trump months to correct things voluntarily? He would have faced no charges. It might not even have been mentioned in the media at all???
But their star witness is still in hiding and on the run from a DOJ warrant, isn't he?
