I seem to remember there was once a five year gap in elections.
They passed an amendment to the Elections Act in '07 to have fixed election dates every 4 years.
Constitutionally it is a 5 year term.

DeSantis was the heir apparent...Ahead in all of the Republican polls.
Enter Alvin Bragg and Letitia James. Somehow the Democrats managed to resurrect him with their predetermined B.S. trials and verdicts. He was out of the news cycle and they brought him right back in. The public saw him as someone fighting the establishment, lol...How crazy is that?
Add to that the Democrats reversed all of Trumps executive orders securing the border letting in at a minimum 10 million people. It's probably closer to 15 over a 3.5 year period. All this during inflationary times. Then we have Biden's obvious mental acuity decline, which they blatantly try to cover up.
It's the greatest political comeback of all time...The Democrats had him finished but brought him back to life. All they had to do was keep Trumps border and not run Biden for a second term and not mention Trump...But....

I'm not sure how I previously responded, but the only thing that brought him back to life was his ongoing quest for power and the fact that the MAGA cult made all the other GOPers afraid to say no to him. Bragg and James were failures, but were not motivational for trump. His lust for power was evidenced by Jan 6 which happened way before Bragg and James. He showed who he is and some of us (not enough) believed him.
If anything the cowardice and total reversals of McConnell and Graham are what gave him the confidence to move forward. They betrayed their country. They should have been charged with treason.
Maybe I'm not getting my point across here...He needs the news cycle. That's what he thrives on...Remove him from that and you take away his vehicle to survive. He'll drift into obscurity. My 2 cents anyways
He is big news with whatever he posts and his followers boost him to the hilt.
How is he supposed to be removed from the news cycle when he is the one producing the news.
A lack of support from the GOP could accomplish that. But they keep confirming him so that he remains a topic of import.
