why would you even bother with a vcr these days? Even if you have a decent movie collection playing them on a flat panel display is like watching TV through a screen door. I had about 50 -60 tape movies and gave em all to value village. The upconverting Samsung DVD/VCR looks interesting but the Google reviews are terrible. Does anybody here actually own this beast? Is it any good?
Can I assume that a Blu-Ray automatically upconverts to 1080p? BB has an Insignia BR for $79.or a Blu Ray player for $139.00......
Umm dude, Blu Rays ARE 1080P.......or are you referring to regular DVDs upconverting? In that case, yes on both points. Can I assume that a Blu-Ray automatically upconverts to 1080p? BB has an Insignia BR for $79.
What do you think of applying the "Ovechkin/Blake" theory to harddrives? I buy TWO 500gb HD and make TWO backups so if one goes down, I still have the other one (I hope)? If I buy ONE 1tb HD, I can only make ONE backup.
yeah, but like I said: I can just download em again *eg*Can't lose the porn collection!!!![]()
That begs the question: "Why download them in the first place?"I can just download em again
I believe, you need to use an HDMI cable in order to get the full benefit of the DVD-HD up converter.Umm dude, Blu Rays ARE 1080P.......or are you referring to regular DVDs upconverting? In that case, yes on both points.
you are correct....now you can use the component video cable but it isn't as good as an HDMI.......I believe, you need to use an HDMI cable in order to get the full benefit of the DVD-HD up converter.![]()
Thanks. Went to Factory Direct yesterday to buy a harddrive.Round 3
Yeah, you do NOT buy a refurb hard drive from Factory Direct. For that matter, you don't buy anything "valuable" or expensive. I'd buy a monitor but only if it was under $100.00 and BIG (like a 23 or 24 inch).Thanks. Went to Factory Direct yesterday to buy a harddrive.
1) Out of stock.
2) Refurbished (not new). A HD can clock only so many miles before it crashes (with all your data).
3) All sales final and only a 7 day warranty.
I did buy a refurbished camcorder from Factory Direct about 4 years ago. Was still working fine last time I used it.Yeah, you do NOT buy a refurb hard drive from Factory Direct.
And if the camcorder breaks, what do you lose? (btw, how much did you pay for it?)I did buy a refurbished camcorder from Factory Direct about 4 years ago. Was still working fine last time I used it.
Also bought a refurbished Pioneer DVD recorder from XS Cargo also about 4 years ago. Seems to working fine. But, HD's are wear and tear intensive and there is no "mileage remaining" meter to let you know how much life is remaining.
It is a Sharp mini DV camcorder. Paid $299 plus tax and got a $50 mail in rebate. And if the camcorder breaks, what do you lose? (btw, how much did you pay for it?)
