I know a lot of people like Dylan but I find his voice to be like finger nails on a blackboard. I have to change the station immediately if he comes on. There isn't a single Dylan song that I can listen to.

However, he writes some good stuff and I particularly like Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower.

I think its his voice that makes Rainy Day Women...... "They'll stone you when you're trying to write a book..."

Try listening to the tribute album Chimes of Freedom. Its a benefit for Amnesty International. Miley Cyrus did "Your Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go". Never thought it was one of his best songs, never cared much for her. But after listening to it I have a lot more respect for both. Heres a link

I still say, Mr Tambourine Man.

Most of BD's lyrics are incomprehensible. My favourite incomprehensible couplet is:
Hey mister tambourine man, play a song for me.
In the jingle-jangle morning, I'll come following you.

All Along the Watch Tower, My Back Pages, and Easy Chair which was covered successfully by the Byrds. Oh, and all the other songs listed on this thread...

To take this song to yet one more level, this performance was for the benefit of flood victims. Wow ... just wow.

He's written some great songs, but I have to agree with Joni Mitchell that he is/was a bit of a 'fake'

If that's the case, he must have been pretty damn good at it 'coz he's been doing it for over 50 years now. IMO, for that to happen there has to be more substance than fakery.

As for his best song, it's like asking for Gretzky's best goal. There are too many to only pick one.
