Sure, lets hope he stops at that though. I'm already not happy with Revere leaving :frown:

Price (as much as I love the guy cause he's a team player) I'm not too worried about leaving
Actually we can afford to lose one bat right now for the right player. We are so stacked there if you want to make the pitching better now then we are going to have to trade assets.

I think Joey Bats is staying. But Edwin may end up on the block. And in the long run end up replacing Big Papi in Boston.

My guess is they will start to stretch both Osuna and Sanchez out in Dunedin
I think what happens with/to Sanchez and Osuna will depend on what Delabar, Jenkins, Loup, Tepera and Schultz do at Dunedin.

They each have talent. At least 3 of them will make the team... but if 1 or 2 of them show real promise, Sanchez and/or Osuna could start.

Perry
I just think they want to see what both have as possible starters. You stretch them out in the spring as a trial balloon, doesn't say either will start.
I agree with Perry and they will want to see what Chavez and Hutchison bring to the table.

On another subject, LF is now open and don't eliminate Zeke, he came along way last year. I would like to see him and Pompey. Trade Sanders, he IS injury prone!

Still need a back up catcher, does anyone thing Thole is the guy????

His agent asked for more than a $5mln dollar raise after just over 2 years service time. The structure of MLB's contractural control rules is geared toward underpaying players who outperform early in their careers with the carrot they get the big bucks in free agency.

Trout signed a longer term deal after his second year selling out his arb years but he still only made $6mln in 2015....less than Ricky Romero

If you follow baseball blogs, there's a new trend towards carrying 7-8 potential starters and hoping to get 4 solid ones. Then if you're in contention by July, trading for the rent-a-soon-to-be-free-agent (aka Price of '15) for prospects or parts.

Starters are a very risky position with injuries and under-performance. You can count just a handful of starters who have made 30+ starts and 200+ innings in that past 3 years. (RA Dickey is one)

Economically, you spread $50mil across 8 potential starters, and hope that 4 perform above expectations, like Estrada.

Still need a back up catcher, does anyone thing Thole is the guy????
Yeah this is a bit tricky, he is Dickey's personal catcher, so can spell Martin every 5th day, BUT he is useless otherwise.
And Martin is not getting younger and not certain RM can handle 130 game catching. So do we get a 3rd catcher, which takes up a roster spot?

That's one of the (smaller) argument for trading RAD, it frees up Thole's roster spot to get a real backup catch.

Catchers are prone to injury, should Martin(God forbid!) go down for any significant period of time, Jays have a serious problem. IMO another catcher is a must.

Listened to Bobcat interview Shapiro today and he was saying a team needs to be able to go 7 or 8 deep in starting pitching.
Enjoyed the interview, despite my bias toward him , I did find him intelligent. He was informative when he wanted to be but handled the questions well and we learned little or nothing as to where the Jays go from here. He may have a few less haters now.

Shapiro is a charmer and quite intelligent and sells himself well in interviews. That said, I don't understand the hating at this point. So far, his only big decision has been to pass on Price's exorbitant contract and I whole heartedly agree with his call there. I would like to see another catcher and more bullpen depth, but that may fall into place by April.

The issue is he hasn't made the move that signifies the team is going for the win, especially to the casual observer. It doesn't mean that I think one is neccessary at this point.

But the Price / Tulo / Revere trades made people excited. For the first time in two decades. They want that again. That feeling of momentum.

Or the fact he needs time to access the talent. Especially the minor leagues. And to get a feel for the team personalities as well.

No point worrying over trades. We have talent we need to sign on the team now.

There is a reason why Joey Boom Bats is the leader of the Jays, he's always willing to do his part for the community.

He's taking part in a Canada vs USA Celebrity game to take place during the NBA All-Star Festivities. The teams will be coached by Drake and Kevin Hart. His teammates will be Steve Nash, Win Butler (Arcade Fire) Stephan James and retired NBA players Tracey McGrady (does he regret leaving) and Rick Fox. Milos Raonic is also expected to play but if he's in form that's unlikely.

Josh D and the Jays were just $400k apart and couldn't close the deal and now have to go to arbitration with the MVP. JD asked for $11.8 mil.
Stupidest move yet by Shapiro.

It is a head scratcher.....from that close you split the difference and shake hands or you put an extra bonus clause in ......for JD the extra will be highly taxed any way
