Bell hit 47 home runs in '87. The year before he hit 31, these two seasons were the only two he hit 30 or more. He finished with a (12 yr)career total of 265.

Brian Tallet should seriously retire. I dont want to hear any excuse or reason why this guy is on a major league roster. Pathetic.

That's it! Thank you Stradler and gcostanza. I actually remembered that Green had a 35 HR season, but forgot about the 42 HR season.

By the way gcostanza, George Bell had 47 HR in 1987, not 49.
Sorry, typo, note the time I was posting. :D

When Shawn Green went to the Dodgers, I think he was the first Dodger to hit 40 HR's in the past 300 years. The Dodgers very rarely produce 40 HR hitters.
Shawn Green hit 49 home runs in 2001 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The most since Gary Sheffield hit 43 in 2000 .

Not exactly 300 years.

Of course, before Sheffield, it was all the way back in 1997 when Mike Piazza hit 40 home runs.

I'm going with my nephew later this week. Which section is best as far as sightlines go? And what are the good places to eat thats within walking distance from the stadium and still open late after the game is over? I dont mean fast food but restaurants for me to go with my nephew.

Apologies in advance as I know my question was not exactly what the thread was intended for.

Vixxcampbell, welcome to the city and to TERB.
I'm not sure I can really comment on sightlines. When I go I sit in the 100 level (closest to the field) and it's ideal for seeing the game. I don't expect that there are any obstructed sightlines, but I couldn't tell you for sure.
As for restaurants, there's Lone Star (Tex Mex) right across Front St., Jack Astors at Front & University (close by) and there are a bunch of restaurants up on King St. (next major street north of Front). I'm sure you'll be able to find something you like.
Have a good time.

Speaking from experience if you're going on the weekend for an afternoon game, to me it's better to sit along the 3rd baseline rather than 1st baseline because the sun can really hit you along first base esp if you don't have any sunscreen on. (Got a sunburn once after sitting there.)
Along 3rd base side you'remore in the shade so you don't need to worry about getting a sunburn.

Is that restaurant behind centre field (Hard Rock?) still there?

Windows was the restaurant beyond centre field. The Hard Rock Cafe was beyond right field. I believe both are now closed.

I've attended numourous games over the years. I find the 200 level a lot nicer than the 100's. Better angles, better sightlines, more comfortable seats.

Lots of good restaurants mentioned above. East Side Mario's is another good choice, or the Bier Market, depending how old your nephew is. :D

Aaron Hill has been demoted to the #8 hitting spot in tonight's lineup.

Nice win tonight for the Blue Jays. Hughes seemed to struggle with his command a bit, the BBs were costly. As well , Hughes had trouble finishing off hitters and as a result his pitch-count went up. Buck and Tabby commented on it at the start of the game but one of the reasons why Hughes has had trouble staying deep into games is because his pitch-count goes up very early as it did today. Terrific game by Wells, fell a double short of the cycle and almost got it in that last AB in the 6th, if that deep fly ball to left had hit the wall he surely would have gotten the double. Great swing on the HR as well by Wells to get on top of that high fastball. Also, liked the hustle I saw from the Jays tonight, in particular the hustle Bautista showed on that ground ball by Wells to 2B. Bautista's hustle resulted in an RBI for Wells in that inning. Some nice defense by the Jays as well tonight. Lewis made a nice defensive play early in the game to track down a a Cano fly ball, Aaron Hill did a nice job turning that DP in the 3rd after getting a high throw from Encarnacion and then making an off-balance throw to 1B to get Teixera. Jays actually turned a couple of DPs in the game, both off the bat of Teixera. Really, the only thing bad I can say about tonight's performance was the performance of the bullpen. Frasor and Gregg had Blue Jays fans (or me anyways) nervous in the 9th but they managed to get out of the jam leaving the would be tying run on 1st.
