Nice to see the Jays (9) lay a beating on NY (3). NY aren't their normal powerhouse this year but it is still nice to see.

Greg Zuan may be find it hard to get back into the line up when he gets back. I like Zuan, I would like him to pass me one of those blank cheques, but Rod Barajas is playing really well.

you are right!!! it is always nice to beat snobs like Jeter, Rodriguez and Co. and specially if Doc is pitching (lord knows he deserved that win)

I like Zaun but Barajas has been playing great...I liked the attempt he made last night faking a throw to second and almost tagging the playing at third that was great thinking

At one point, with the score 3-2, it looked like it was gonna be another game of squandered opportunities until the Yanks bullpen proved to be even worse than the Jays bats with men in scoring position when they walked in the 4-2 run and then the floodgates opened.

I had the same thought for most of the game. When will those missed chances come back to haunt them?

Key to the win was the patience shown at the plate in the first innings. Shows they can do it. :)

The Jays can sweep this series if they can get the Yanks starters, who haven't been very good this season, out of the game early. The Yankees' bullpen is horrible outside of Rivera.

When Ryan came on I understood that decision as he is the guy paid for that role.
This closer thing is nuts. AJ was cruising along on a 3 hitter. Hope this mandatory closer concept doesn't spread to hockey where they bring in a new goalie with 6 minutes left to go to "close" out the game. I'm a firm believer that you finish what you start unless you are in deep goo and need help.

I remember when Sergei Federov used to fake an injury (many times) and then come back into the game near the end of the third period and would skate rings around everyone and would be an integral part of the comeback.

Sorry, I'm off track. They should have left A.J. pitch against Guerrero and Hunter at the very least and then they could have brought in Ryan to pitch against the leftie Kotchman.

Another BS by Ryan. Gives up 3 runs in 9th. What's wrong with him? :(
I came home and turned on the TV to see Rios make the catch for the second out. Then it was single, steal , single, homer, game over. Pissed me off. Now I don't know if I'm in the mood to bang my 6:00 SP. Yeah, right.

The Jays failed to tack on more runs in both the eight and ninth inning. They had two on with one out in the eighth but couldn't score, and they only managed to score one in the ninth even though they had the bases loaded and Farnsworth on the ropes. I just had a feeling it was going to come back to bite them.

The offence got 9 runs today. I am sure there is almost more runs to be had, but BJ just didn't do what he is getting paid a lot of $ to do.

In 5 minutes of work over 2 outings, Ryan managed to turn a 6 - 3 roadtrip into a 4 -5 roadtrip. Maybe Downs should do some closing for a bit.

Agreed. Is Accardo due back soon?

Still 4 - 5 isn't that bad considered past West Coast trip performances. :)

The last time Ryan was struggling like this was when he was playing hurt.

If that is the case, then he should sit out and give someone else the opportunity to take on the closer role.

I understand that he can't be perfect but he was absolutely horrible the last two outings.

Or you could say they'd be 3 1/2 games out of first instead of 5 1/2 going into today's games.
