Hate to say this, but the best way to get out from the stereotype is to man-up and change. It takes time. But things change.
A good example is Chinese people in the 1800s boating over for cheap wages to build a railroad and all that dangerous construction. No English. Shit wages. Got all the crappy jobs. I'm sure the white man saw them as a bunch of foreign illiterate "yellow men". But over decades, and fast forward to 2016. Do people thinking of Chinese people as a bunch of dopey labourers? Nope. In fact, you barely see Asians even doing blue collar work at all. When was the last time you saw a construction guy being Asian?
WWII comes around and Japan is being an ass causing havoc in the Pacific. War, taking over Asian islands and reading up at how they treated prisoners and stuff. PEARL HARBOR. Wow. A lot of hardcore shit. I'm sure people at the time thought Japanese people were a bunch of war mongerers acting likes asses trying to take over the Pacific. Propaganda, comics and all.
Fast forward again, and nobody thinks of Japanese people as troublemakers. But the exact opposite. Hard working, smart, low crime, industrious people who care. And who doesn't like a nice Nissan or Lexus?
Indian people have skin that can be just as dark as a black person. Yet, how come people's perception is often different vs. a black person even though skin wise, they can be equally dark brown?
Don't act like an ass and people won't think of you as an ass.
