Mitt Romney said last night he has information amounting to "binders full of women". Now that is some little black book!:biggrin1:

Bill Clinton, you better watch out. You only had a little blue dress.

I used to know an Indian guy who would get binders full of women from his mom. She was trying to find a wife for him, and would mail him these binders full of photos and biographies of prospective wives that she had found, for him to review.

Is that what Romney meant?

Romney’s “binders” comment goes viral

How Mitt secured the Women Vote.....:D

Mitt Romney's poor phrasing inspired a new meme during the October 16 town hall presidential debate. The social media buzz began just minutes after Romney mentioned the "binders full of women"

he received while enlisting the help of women's groups to hire his female staff. Here are some of our favorites from Twitter and http://bindersfullofwomen.tumblr.com/

In all seriousness, the way it comes across is, "I wanted to hire some qualified women, because now that we're in the 1970's, it's the right thing to do, so I went out and contacted some women's groups, who sent me resumes of some women I had never heard of before, and that was great.."

Really, he has been in business and politics for that long, and he doesn't know a single qualified woman himself? He's never run into one? Doesn't know any? Not even a single one of his own contacts is a qualified woman? He needed to contact women's groups to learn that they exist, to find some resumes of these strange creatures?

he must be a regular at fairbanks stripculb.lol
With around $150 million cash in the bank, and earning $13 million per year (what he reports anyway), he can visit as many sc, mp and SPs as he wants.

He does have a long list of TDL in his binders.

Will he have time to run a country? :D

Despite what some on the left are saying, it would usually be illegal for a Governor to hire women who he knows to fill roles for which there was a desire to hire a woman. It is not surprising in the least that he would consult with others and be supplied with "binders full of resumes".

Mitt's point still stands: there are thousands of highly-qualified women all across America, just as there are thousands of men who are probably equally qualified.

You mean it was illegal when Dubya tried to appoint his personal lawyer to SCOTUS?

Or when Obama made Hillary Sec of State?

Or...

No.

Those are positions which are approved by Congress, and if Congress had any issues with whatever personal relationship existed between the executive and the appointee, they would be able to reject the appointment.

But you already knew that.

Mitty offered flexible schedules as the solution for working women. You know, so we can get home and cook dinner and get back to the laundry…

Nonsense. It's his prerogative to stack his cabinet with ANYONE he wants. It is commonplace for people to pick trusted friends and close associates for their cabinet posts. We are not talking about hiring civil service jobs here, cabinet is different.

The fact that there wasn't a single person among his trusted friends and associates who counted as a qualified woman is telling.

Well--more likely, his whole story is bullshit, but now he's buried himself with it.

Yep, pick friends for cabinet post. Who needs to be competent!

Pick me, I can screw up just as bad for $250,000 per year plus benefits.

What people are looking for, when they are a President or a Governor picking those who are going to be their closest advisors are competent, qualified people that they trust. So they are usually selected from people they have worked with and know, rather than at large.

I have a hard time believing that there are many who become Governor who look around at their friends and find only couch potatos and highschool dropouts. People at that level usually have a long professional association working with others of a similar caliber. They have friends who run businesses, have their own political careers, etc., and those people usually wind up in their cabinets.

That Romney's circle doesn't include any qualified women...
