1. Premarital sex is a sin.
At least two of his three daughters were
divorcees. Of his five children 3 were divorced
and one son (the one other than Franklin) is
known to have used drugs as a teen. But being
a devoted Christian family they could always
turn to God for forgiveness.

Compared with the likes of Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart,
Jim Bakker and Oral Roberts, Billy Graham was like an angel.
I've read that when he was on his tour his assistants would
enter the hotel room reserved for him first to check for any
naked women hiding under the bed. As much as I admire his
integrity I feel sorry for such a handsome and charismatic
man like Graham having led a life of deprivation.

I dont know why you guys are so down on the man. I think out of evangelists out there he was the one true servant of his god. He lived quite simply, never any scandals, adviser to many presidents, incredible motivational speaker, and did alot of good with the money he made. Regardless of what you may think about his beliefs he lives as pure a life as I think a man can, we should all be that good
I agree with you, and what K Douglas said too.

The classy critics always emerge upon any religious person's death. Be that Gandhi or JP2 or Mother Teresa, even MLK. The same will be when the Dalai Lama sheds his mortal coil.

It is unfair to put Graham in the same class of religious
leaders as Gandhi and MLK. Graham lived a wholesome
life. OTOH Gandhi is known to have slept with teen chicks
in his old age. MLK also had a reputation of being a womanizer.

It's unfair to put Graham in with Gandhi and MLK, Graham hated gays and family planning. He's a piece of shit.

Humanity is doomed to annihilation unless it rids itself of archaic institutions like religion and royalty. Good riddance to a waste of skin.

Billy Graham's son.

As a Christian, what position do you think MLK held on gays or abortion? How about extramarital sex?

jcpro, does it really matter, MLK was fighting for equal rights
You're right, if course. Let's give him a pass on homophobia, women's lib, reproductive rights suppression
because a higher cause was at stake. Or we could just say that he fought a good fight, as well as he understood it and he changed the world for the better, for his fellow man. And the critics, who are not worth his shoelace, can go and fuck themselves.

Jcpro, you do surprise me sometimes.

It's part of the reason why I find the scurrilous attacks on South Africa's new President Cyril Ramaphosa distressing. He did not go into exile like the military wing of the ANC. He stayed and fought for better working conditions for South Africa's miners. Considering how brutal Apartheid became in the 80's, South Africa got lucky. He could have easily become another Steven Biko. Biko's death had a profound effect on Nelson Mandela. His martyrdom paved the way for South Africa's bloodshed free transition to majority rule.
