Because the alternative is that you really are that fucking stupid that you actually think Bill Cosby said this crap.

How fucking dumb.

I don't even have to go into Snopes (you should before you post such shit though) to know Cosby no more said this than gave a speech at the Swearing In Ceremony of the newest Grand Wizard for the Ku Klux Klan.

Fucking stupid.
james, you're busted as evidenced by many posters on this thread.

However, from my perspective you all are missing the point. The bottom line is it's the parents who have to take control of this problem, don't blame the kids, the kids are a product of their environment, their upbringing and if they lack the English skills, listen to their parents and you'll see the source of the problem in black America today. Nothing new as this applies to any race, any group in society. It's just that Cosby is targeting blacks in America and wants a wake up call to all black parents and let's not blame whites for everything, especially when black parents have some control on some issues. If blacks want to hold positions in business, government, etc.. of higher stature they need to have the basics in the English language, not the ghetto talk. Good for Cosby, I've been listening to him for years preach this. This is only the start, there's more than can be done, but action is required, not finger pointing and self pity. Take control of your own problems.

Well, in some cases sure, however as I mentioned earlier, the way they speak does not necessarily define who they are. Polite, well mannered and considerate people do not always use the Queens English, that is all I am trying to say.

I have heard Bill Cosby's stand on this topic in the past, and he is right on the money. Unfortunately, the people who are part of the problem labeled him a race traitor. I have always felt someone can say what ever they want about someone, as long as it is true. Remember, political correctness is just another word for cowardice.

Wow....If you really think some lying cowards like Condeliza Rice and Colin Powell are really doing something good for black people, you really are lost.

Tupac and his band of idoits??.....well I'm guessing you're another person that was too caught up in how he looked instead of what he was saying. He was the son of black panthers and knew the struggle facing him.

Now if you really have no problem with your white friends saying "you dont talk black" and things along those lines, you're feeding the problem. As innocent as the statement seems, understand that it is a racist statement none the less, and you are agreeing with.

When you stop pretending to be what you're not and start realizing the truth soon you'll realize that no matter how far you excel and no matter what you achieve you'll always be just another n***a in their eyes. Just ask the well respected Harvard Professor arrested in his own home....seems he wasn't like tupac and his band of idoits, but he was arrested and treated the same way they were.

Hopefully you can receive that same treatment....maybe you'll learn a thing or two about the world we live in.
I for my part, choose not to give up the fight before it's been fought. Others can do otherwise if they choose, but I will live my own life as I see fit.

Well colour me stupid.

I would not have guessed it. Figured it for another Neo-con rant attributed to a celebrity. (There are so many.)

Never would have thought that BC would have said such things.

Anyway, I appologize for being stupid.

Bill Cosby's doctorate is honorary.

He is himself a blatant racist as it appears to me he only donates his money to afrocentric charities and causes.

This has to be the most ridiculous definition of "racist" that I have ever encountered.....breathtakingly dumb. How in God's name do you ever reach a conclusion that a person is a racist, excuse me let me be accurate here,"...a blatant racist..." for donating to charity - afro-centric or otherwise? I mean, really...

What a cynical generalization. By the way, to whom are you referring when you write, "...just another n***a in their eyes?

"YO !" > He was running to catch the elevator I was on, and yelled "Yo" with one hand raised and ... wait for it ... ... ... yes the other holding his pants up.
'Yo' as if that meant something. I did nothing since "Yo" means nothing to me other then half of a childhood toy.
As it turned out he was going to the same doctor's office I was and recognized me.
When he asked me why I did not hold the elevator I replied "I did not know you wanted on".
He countered with "I said 'Yo' ",
to which I said "I am supposed to know what you mean just because you said 'Yo' ?".
He then asked "What should I have said ?",
I looked at him and asked "How old is your mother ?",
he thought about it for a second and said "41".
I asked him "What would she have said ?".
His expression changed and he went and sat down.

This(above) happened about 18 months ago.

I hear them talk, young idiots of all backgrounds, and when they speak a 17 or 20 word sentence 'yo' makes up for about five of the words. I do not want to even get into the hand gestures.

That's how you define racist?

Just kids being kids. I used to speak that way 15 years ago. You're beginning to sound like your parents. Funny how that happens.

"The world is passing through troublous times. The young people of
today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for
parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as
if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is
foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest
and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress." - Peter the Hermit in A.D. 1274

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for
authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place
of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their
households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties
at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers." Socrates (or other ancient)

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on
frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond
words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and
respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise
[disrespectful] and impatient of restraint" - Hesiod, 8th century BC

"What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?" - Plato

"The manners of children are deteriorating... the child of today is coarser more vulgar... than his parents were." - CG Heathcote in 1898

Uhm.....no it isn't

In 1976, Cosby earned a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Massachusetts. For his doctoral research, he wrote a dissertation entitled, "An Integration of the Visual Media Via 'Fat Albert And The Cosby Kids' Into the Elementary School Curriculum as a Teaching Aid and Vehicle to Achieve Increased Learning".

He has honorary degrees from about a dozen universities and colleges, but his PhD is the real deal.

Between a rock and a hard place
I Just watched an episode of Bernie Mac. He was agood example of what Bill was talking about, yet he made perfect sense to me, and I liked listening to him. So whats the difference between Bernie and people who sound just like him, that we abhor?

Now this was a man who knew how to speak.

I'm guess, and it's just a guess, that the original thread was a true Bill Cosby rant.

We all rant at some time or other. But Cosby has made the same points in more eloquent language in his pitch for improved education.

Good for him.

Yeah yeah, but did Socrates and the louts he hung around with speak the same lingo? From my reading of the Republic, the young punks of his time did...

As opposed to "Yo!" which means sweet fuck all.
