He also did Thirst in 2009, which was pretty wild. In the horror genre, vampire movies are pretty low on my list - with a few exceptions: (eg. Let The Right One In), but this was good.

And how could I forget the (in)famous Japanese movie Audition?!? Look up "mind fuck" in the dictionary and you might see the movie poster. Textbook.

Ooh, and I forgot Enemy! Denis Villeneuve! (I loved Prisoners and Sicario too, haha). This one also has an ending that freaks a lot of people out - but the whole movie is pretty trippy. Filmed in Toronto, too - as Toronto! Pretty rare. And between this movie, Prisoners (also Villeneuve) and Nightcrawler, I must admit I really dig creepy/grungy Jake Gyllenhaal.

OK, last one (for now): Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem. It's polarizing - a lot of people were expecting something like The Devil's Rejects, which was awesome (but not a mind fuck movie). This is more of a slow burn. Lots of slow, symmetrical shots, Kubrick/Shining style.

Either way, the world needs more witch movies.

Repulsion (1965) Roman Polanski directed, starring Catherine Deneuve. English language. Possibly disturbing horror movie with a rare female killer.

3-Iron (2004) Korean movie. directed by Kim Ki-Duk. Despite the golf club name, this is in no way a sports movie! Very little dialogue and quite haunting.

Maybe more disturbing than mind fuck but two from Director Larry Clark - Bully and Kids.

The Sixth Sense and The Butterfly Effect messed with my mind. But nothing like The Exorcist which is right up there with The Shining as the scariest movies for me.

It took me a few times to understand the movie, but I was confused at Total Recall.... yeah, that kill-a-thon action Arnie flick. I understand the board scope of what the movie is about, but a few things about it I never understood.

For example, if any of you guys can explain to me this part of the movie that would be great!

Kind of early in the movie Arnie is running from Micheal Ironside and such. He then runs into his fat construction buddy and his 3-4 friends. They tell him he shouldn't have gone to Recall. And they all try to kill him.

Why? Whose side was the fat guy's group on? The evil CEO or the rebels?

Did anyone see Cube ?

The Matrix is up there as well. It reminded me of Plato's theory of the cave. My son, who was 13 or 14 at the time, watched all three of them a lot.

"Dark City" was another MF, it was the "Matrix" before "The Matrix" as it was in theatres the year before Matrix.

Agree with Shutter Island and Predestination (which was the first movie that came to mind when reading the title of the thread).
For those who liked Oldboy, I would recommend "I Saw the Devil", not so much of a mind fuck, but fucked up.

Evil CEO. He was assigned as a secondary watcher over Arnie. Why he tried to kill him is Michael Ironside had gone rogue and was using the situation as an excuse to kill Arnie because he hated him. He order the hit Mainly because he was banging his wife(im presuming evil Arnie alter ego suggested it just so he could).

Many years back my friend lent it to me on a vhs it was a copy so all i had to go by was the title. "Dusk before dawn" I had no idea what it was about until they were well into the titty bar scene. Nice little mind fuck if you watched that movie when you are clueless lol.
