Yes, I believe there are a lot of people who watch Fox and think he is a journalist. I mean, he works for Fox News...There is a serious lack of media literacy in the US (and to a lesser extent in Canada) where people don't know the difference between a columnist and reporter, between an Op-Ed and a news article. I have seen Jesse Waters and other be called journalists (including Jessica Tarlov). You know better. You are more well-versed in things. But I'd wager that a staggering number of Fox viewers think the panel shows like Fox and Friends is journalism. Why would you think people believe Gutfeld is a journalist?
There's nothing about his demeanor and delivery that suggests that he is a journalist.
We can say Gutfeld is a humorist and commentator. We have been trying for some time to tell you all commentators aren't journalists.
Would you rather have Stephen Colbert deliver political commentary on a comedy/talk show?
Is that a better venue than a cable news network?
Now, as for Stephen Colbert, I think significantly more people know he is a comedian, and while he does political humour, they can understand what he says might be accurate but it includes embellishment and satire to make things funnier. But, the thing about Colbert is that he makes fun of everyone, from Trump to Biden. I do not watch Fox at all (well, the occasional clip here and there) but I don't think I've ever heard them make fun of Trump or Vance. Now, I'm not saying Colbert doesn't have partisanship in his show, he obviously does not like Trump (and, for good reason), but he is still more fair in ridiculing both sides than Fox hosts ever could.
