Best Major League Sport?

The NBA and more specifically the "Toronto Raptors" look to be in trouble...if Terb is a microcosm of society than it looks like they are even worse off than I thought before posting this poll. Interesting.....
I liked the team much better when they had Butch Carter coaching and Mighty Mouse was coming into his own. Don't get me wrong - Bosh is great but he and the team are very boring....I fall asleep when the Raps are on more than any golf coverage or baseball game.

All my Portugese, Italian and Greek friends go to their games but I am bored to tears watching grown men in shorts run back and forth for 90 minutes and sometimes the game ends 0-0.Anynym said:
No, TERB is not a microcosm of society. Normal people are not this obsessed with sex and bizarre sex. Anyway, it seems to me that the fans at Raptors games are fairly young which might appear to bode well for the future but who knows.Bounce said:

I'll check into it ..... I'm spoiled, I want to watch the games on my real TV, not a computer monitor. Then again, these new fangled TVs have inputs galore, I could hook a laptop up to it if I had to ..... just wouldn't be HD. Then again, my desktop claims to have an HD output on the video card ..... hmmmmmmmmmm. But the online source most likely wouldn't be HD would it?blueline said:

i have come to realize and accept that Soccer whether we here in NA like it is here to stay. Why? Because its a game played around the world. With all the recent immigration these days MOST of the people coming to Canada and the US have played soccer as their main sport.Hell even some High Schools in the GTA have CRICKET teams now(saw this on CITY TV Sports last year)
Toronto FC is pulling in as many fans as the ARGOS do for a CFL game maybe more. Am I a soccer fan? no, just observant of what is going on around me.

Even though soccer is the most participated sport in the world thankfully here in north america, it will never be anything more than......... a footnote, oh ya by-the-way, last section in the sports pages, d-movie of the sports world with sports fans here. Comparing it to the Argos is proof that alone that holds water. Need I say more. Who cares are soccer or the argos? Not too many sports fans. That's who.spankingman said:

Like it or not and no matter what point of view is presented, UEFA and FIFA will always be bigger and more popular than any North American sport. There's nothing anybody can say that hasn't been heard before by a futbol fan here in North America. The simple truth is this: stop any one in the streets of a European, African, Asian or Latin American city. Pick a continent, any continent. Ask them who most recently won the EuroCup or the Champions League. Then ask them who won the SuperBowl or the Stanley Cup. The latter will only get you a long, vacant stare. I know because I've seen it happen. I have nothing against the other sports mentioned (the thread was Sport Leagues, not restricted to NA) I am a big baseball fan. I would say that I love sports. Why would I only have one to choose from?
IMHO, there are certain sports that I like more than others but there are many variables when seeing a live sporting event.
I like watching hockey because it is very fast, skill level on ice, the hitting, etc.
I like watching a baseball game when there is a great pitching matchup, hitting. fielding plays, etc.
I like basketball when great players are playing one another (i.e. LBJ vs. Kobe).
I like football because of the many plays that can be run and guessing what the other team is going to do.

I used to be a FANATIC about sports...now I would say I am more of a Fan. I have to admit my diminished interest is due mostly to all the BS that surrounds every sport.
Drugs, guns, bar fights, DUI's, DOG FIGHTING. The athletes of today, IMO, do not have the passion or love for their sport. Athletes, owners and advertisors have turned nearly ever major sport into a 3 ring circus.

Actually NBA is quite popular among people in Toronto more specifically the younger generations as Rockslinger mentioned...clearly you don't have much idea about the excitement that BC has brought to the RAPs.Bounce said:
