Magoos in Etobicoke.
No gimics, no multitudes of sauces you’ve never heard of, no hipster, gen z, heavy social media presence to lure you in.
Just a great tasting burger and fries.

And. Burger Priest sucks.
Went twice.
First time I was turned away.
Got there 30 mins before closing.
The gen z girl at the counter when I walked in said only in her apathetic tone we’re closed.
When I mentioned it’s hh before you close she said okay well then we’re out of food.
Typical attitude of the lazy generation working in the fast food industry.
Second time I went buddies from work insisted we go for lunch. I already had a bad taste in mouth due to the shir service I got first time around. Burger, too much sauce and greasy. Fries soggy and greasy. No go for me.

I find most of these new burgers places are over hyped and over rated. I love the old school places but its sad that so many of them are dying off.

Times Square. Wilson Heights and Sheppard. This may be the last original diner in the city, the portions are enormous, and the fantastic charbroiled burgers are made with a mix of chuck and sirloin.

Fuck! I forgot about that place! Imma going to make a detour and go there this week! Great old skool diner. Like the old "Three Coins" used to be in Richmond Hill!

Not sure if it was already mentioned but, The Real McCoy in Scarborough serves up a good old school grilled burger. I recommend the Mojo Burger with their homemade onion rings. Also cant go wrong with their fresh cut fries.

Yeah I know, I'm getting old :(

Anyone living in Mississauga ever tried John Anderson's burgers?? Pretty damn good!

Anderson used to play for the Leafs in the 80's
Didn't know they have a JA in Sauga. I went to the JA at the Victoria Park and Van Horne location a few years back and it was surprisingly good. They also have another location near Warden and 14th. I guess Go Leafs Go?

Although I’ve never had John Anderson’s, they closed the Mississauga location at Dundas & Mavis a few months ago.

Pushing the limits of burger and Toronto but Tally Ho in Hamilton. Something about them is like crack to me. Ready for the 5 hour drive home, fuck it, head the other direction for another hour of driving for them roast beef burgers. I'd gladly kill everyone here for just one burger.

You should also drop in for breakfast some time. The portions are also enormous. Friendly wait staff.

I had to come out of retirement for this for my terb fam.

Just tried Elijah's Automatic Flame Broiled and jaw is still on the floor. Just had the best frikken burger ever. Had the bacon cheese automatic and omgawd so good. You guys will not be disappointed. Mouth is still watering 🤤

Also their fries are fried in beef fat and more tasty and crispy then McDonald’s in a good way. Don’t need any ketchup or anything like that.

This place from the inside looks like a gothic cult lol

forget original burger priest or red rock or any other place mentioned here. This place puts them all to shame.

You’re welcome 😊

Recently went too Elijah's Automatic on The Queensway. Thanks for the tip.

Was pretty good overall. Glad I didn't get a lot of toppings as the beef was really beefy and the flame grilling was nice. (not sure if it was gas or charcoal). $15 for a cheeseburger was a bit much but whatever. 🤷‍♂️

The fries were pretty good. Pretty much tasted like old school McDonalds when they used to be cooked in beef tallow. $4.50 But weren't anything I'd go there specifically for. Best fries in Toronto IMO is "New Toronto Fish and Chips" in South Etobicoke. Also deep fried in beef tallow.

Doughnuts were unreal good! Very imaginative but also good basic chocolate dip. apple fritter etc. Deep fried yeasted donuts.

All in all, it was over $30 for a burger, fries, pop and a burger. About the upper limit for that for me. Mayyyyybe might return but will think twice at that price.

IIRC I once walked into Rudy's nearby and their prices shell shocked me so I left. Eating at home more and more because it really starts to add up if you eat out 8-10 meals a week.

Was going to try the meal prep companies as being single I find a lot of food goes to waste when I have to buy supermarket sized portions for recipes.

Speaking of pushing the limits... back when I ran with a rougher crowd from time to time, the Atherley Arms (The First) had the best damn cheeseburgers and fries ever.

I like Holy Chuck. But they are pricy! $25 for a junior cheeseburger (with an extra slice of cheese), plus fries (enough for 2), and a Diet Coke.

They have a location in the food court at Yorkdale Mall, and another strip mall location on on the south side of Highway 7 between Highway 400 and Pine Valley.

Many of the other food kiosks at Yorkdale have huge line-ups, especially at Chick-fil-A, and to a lesser extent the Chinese food kiosk called Szechuan, but there is rarely a line up at Holy Chuck.

All I know is this. Do not guy frozen Farm Boy burgers. The texture is absolutely horrible. Grilled on BBQ then tried to mask it with tons of toppings - lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo, mustard and ketchup but that didn't work. Never again.

Can't remember if I posted this already, but this guy spent about 11 years reviewing burger joints in the GTA. Very interesting reading his take. There is a drop down menu to take you to each months entry going back to 2011. Hope everyone enjoys reading this.

Had a burger at Rudy. They have several locations. Excellent smash burger. I ordered the Baby Crudy with bacon, which was plenty of food by itself. Try it!

I saw a sign for a place not open yet that said Rudy but I didn't know what it was. Now I do.

In fact, it's supposed to open today.
