The riots are instigated by thugs that have nothing better to do than to disrespect police. The death of the person in police custody is the excuse they are using to riot and loot.

I feel sorry for the people with true frustration with the police being represented by these rioting thugs.

I also fell that the good cops need to stop protecting these assholes drunkn on power.

Baltimore is a giant steaming pile of feces. I'm against police drunk on power, but I don't see this as that. People in Baltimore (white, black, whatever) just don't know how to behave like civilized human beings. I know a white guy from that city who's had his scuffles with the police, over him being a hard-headed jackass.

The TV show The Wire, if anything, softened the reality of Baltimore. It isn't a city that has anything to recommend itself to people, outside the port (which has been eclipsed for decades).

The Charm City is a joke of a nickname. The thugs aren't there because the cops are dicks. The cops are dicks because of the high proportion of thugs of all races in that city. You're talking about a city where Klanners drive through the neighborhoods looking for trouble while gang bangers crowd the streets every Friday and Saturday night, also looking for trouble. I'm frankly surprised it's taken this long for rioting to happen in that city. I expect it damn near every week.

If no gets shot and killed, it will be a miracle and a blessing. I hope none of the injured cops will die either.

The fact is, until there is a high price to society for police brutality, nothing will be done to correct it. I am glad to see the price rising. At least the Americans are rioting over something important instead of a stupid hockey game.

Maybe if they weren't killing and abusing their citizens they'd be less likely to riot? Just a thought.

Watching CNN right now. This is almost as bad as the G20 riot in Toronto. Baltimore has declared a curfew from 10PM-5AM (which in Canada would be a gross violation of a citizen's Charter right to go anywhere anytime he/she pleases).

The curfew will start tomorrow night.

Burning down a CVS, and looting a liquor store does nothing! I saw an Asian store front shop burning up, that has nothing to do with police brutality. They even burned down a black Baptist church senior center being built.

Those things will all be paid for by insurance and compensation, the cost will be to the city, insurers and they will have to face up to the cop problem. If you don't think it will do anything, observe all the riots in history. Its a blunt instrument but it quite often works.

Then the CVS and other national stores, won't rebuild or open new stores in the neighborhood. That just hurts the good honest people that live in that neighborhood. To me these aren't the same riots that happened in the '60s.

Basically. The city should have had a plan and been on high alert following Saturday's riot outside of Camden Yards. They knew this was coming and did nothing to prepare for it. Seeing police officers just stand back and let people throw bottles, rocks, pipes at them while others set fire and looted properties. Absolutely disgraceful.

The National Guard was waiting for hours to get a call from the Mayor's office. This situation looks absolutely terrible on her.

The riots in the 60's were a completely different situation. The majority of these rioters were young kids as well as professional agitators (Black Bloc, Nation of Islam etc). It had less to do with Freddie Gray and police relations and more with the socio-economic despair due to Liberal failed policies and the breakdown of the family unit.

Hopefully this is the end of an incompetent mayor's career.
That's what I though about Obama's tenure after one term, didn't happen. She'll curry favor and probably get her stupid ass re-elected. The turnout in municipal elections there is porous - I think around 33%.
