Baltimore PD kinda brought this one on itself. Although the good cops are going to be targeted along w the bad ones.
Baltimore is a giant steaming pile of feces. I'm against police drunk on power, but I don't see this as that. People in Baltimore (white, black, whatever) just don't know how to behave like civilized human beings. I know a white guy from that city who's had his scuffles with the police, over him being a hard-headed jackass.I feel sorry for the people with true frustration with the police being represented by these rioting thugs.
I also fell that the good cops need to stop protecting these assholes drunkn on power.
The curfew will start tomorrow night.Watching CNN right now. This is almost as bad as the G20 riot in Toronto. Baltimore has declared a curfew from 10PM-5AM (which in Canada would be a gross violation of a citizen's Charter right to go anywhere anytime he/she pleases).
Burning down a CVS, and looting a liquor store does nothing! I saw an Asian store front shop burning up, that has nothing to do with police brutality. They even burned down a black Baptist church senior center being built. The fact is, until there is a high price to society for police brutality, nothing will be done to correct it. I am glad to see the price rising. At least the Americans are rioting over something important instead of a stupid hockey game.
Those things will all be paid for by insurance and compensation, the cost will be to the city, insurers and they will have to face up to the cop problem. If you don't think it will do anything, observe all the riots in history. Its a blunt instrument but it quite often works.Burning down a CVS, and looting a liquor store does nothing! Then the CVS and other national stores, won't rebuild or open new stores in the neighborhood. That just hurts the good honest people that live in that neighborhood. To me these aren't the same riots that happened in the '60s.Those things will all be paid for by insurance and compensation, the cost will be to the city, insurers and they will have to face up to the cop problem. Basically. The city should have had a plan and been on high alert following Saturday's riot outside of Camden Yards. They knew this was coming and did nothing to prepare for it. Seeing police officers just stand back and let people throw bottles, rocks, pipes at them while others set fire and looted properties. Absolutely disgraceful.Maybe it's just me but the mayor looks like a deer caught in the headlights ....
The riots in the 60's were a completely different situation. The majority of these rioters were young kids as well as professional agitators (Black Bloc, Nation of Islam etc). It had less to do with Freddie Gray and police relations and more with the socio-economic despair due to Liberal failed policies and the breakdown of the family unit. Then the CVS and other national stores, won't rebuild or open new stores in the neighborhood. That's what I though about Obama's tenure after one term, didn't happen. She'll curry favor and probably get her stupid ass re-elected. The turnout in municipal elections there is porous - I think around 33%.Hopefully this is the end of an incompetent mayor's career.
