So the question is why was the US confronting China and Russia? Both of these nations are not models of integrity on the world stage. Both countries are led by dictators, are repressive regimes which have brutally crackdown on dissidents within their borders, have aggressive expansionist policies and are actively trying to undermine western society and values. There is a lot to criticize with American foreign policy in the last century and they have had some serious blunders, but there is no other country in the world that has done more to help rebuild economies and countries post WWII.
When you look at the history, China has not been acting in good faith ever since the US saved China from the brink of collapse by opening up relations with them. You forget, China and Russia relations deteriorated especially in the 60s into the 70s. The Soviets were ready to nuke China and it was literally the US that stepped in. Furthermore, quoting Kissinger does your argument no favours. He was arguably one of the worst diplomats in the history of the US. Just to illustrate how China has risen over the last 3+ decades, it has done so by capitalizing on unfair trade practices, engaging in trillions of dollars of IP theft and covering up human rights abuses. All of this is done with the end goal of supplanting the US as the world's largest economy and becoming the top superpower. The CCP views the ideals of the West as an obstacle on their way to becoming the world leader and doesn't see a world where both can co-exist.
Again, it is crazy to hear someone say the USA cannot be trusted but lets trust China and Russia without having any indepth knowledge of how those countries really operate. To truly understand that, you need to live in those countries and you will have an entirely different view (if you can get past their brainwashing)
