Unfortunately, regimes with millennium long ambitions might not see it this way. Xi has stated numerous times that he doesn't rule out using military force.
No point of invading Taiwan, Trump being a big pussy and dictator wannabe himself, will sell Taiwan for the right price, just like what he did to Ukraine.

You realize that China taking Taiwan disrupts the global economy and supply chains. Also, it would be a huge blow to national security within the first island chain. Japan, Phillipines, South Korea, and Australia would be all at risk. Not to mention Guam/Hawaii will be one step closer. So far the messaging from the State department is encouraging with regards to the Far East and deterring China.

Sure, but if Russia can take Ukraine, Israel can take Palestine, trump is trying to take Greenland, what else would you expect?

If you destroy rules based governance you can't complain when others break those same rules.
Fair enough, but id argue that the CCP has been breaking those rules for years, perhaps decades. And the negative implications of a conflict in the far east would dwarf anything we have witnessed since WW2

Like when China took Tibet?
Taking tibet. Rescinding their promise to HK. Over fishing not only their own seas but oceans outside their EEZ. Being the world biggest polluter while pushing net zero agendas. Cutting underwater communication lines around Taiwan and the Baltics. Hiding covid and unleashing it to the world. The list of CCP grievances are long.

But an military operation against Taiwan would be the biggest threat to global stability.

But there wasn't much of a reaction to anything else on your list.
Who will go to war with China over Taiwan?

Hiding covid from the world didn't have a reaction?

As for Taiwan, I believe Japan has stated that it within their national security to protect Taiwan. If Japan gets involved, US gets involved because of their defense pact. South Korea is 50/50 depending on how their political situation pans out and the fact that they have a literally mad man at their doorstep. Not sure if there will be Phillipines involvement and while it is tough to assume their level of involvement, they are equally as threatened with China expansionism as anyone else in the Pacific.

Sure we should look for mutual beneficial partnerships. But I can assure you, a partnership with the CCP will not be symbiotic and it will be exploitive. Canadians will lose.
I would not sign a bad deal just for the sake of having one.

Beyond that though, I would fully expect the Chinese to fuck with us from time to time…but so does the US. As long as we are not exclusively dependent on any one country for our well-being we are better off.

China, Japan and South Korea are now all aligned and they've turfed the US.
Nobody will join the US in a war now, not even Israel.

Again you need to do some DD. The Japanese economic minister denied this. This headline came out from Chinese State Media (obvious misinformation campaign because that is what they always do) and was picked up by Western news sources as true.

What I find troubling is that people are openly routed for China to take Taiwan because Taiwan is aligned with the West. Do you any idea what this does to our modern economy, global supply chains, the life we are blessed to have in the West?

Anyways, I hope you can read Japanese.

What makes you think I want China to invade Taiwan?
All I'm doing is arguing that once the US has said its ok for Russia and Israel to illegally occupy and steal land and then issue their own threats, then its not a surprise others could do it as well. If you want rules based governance you have to say its wrong for all countries to invade or occupy others. Now the US has killed its reputation and pissed off all their allies. The way to make it not happen is through larger alliances like NATO and the UN.

Whether its true and Japan is trying to not admit it publicly or whether its China playing politics is yet to be seen.
What is true is that nobody is trusting the US or willing to back them on anything right now.

Word of advice: take anything that is labelled Chinese State Media with a grain of salt. Here are some of the more popular channels you can look out for: Xinhua, China Daily, People's Daily, Global Times. If you want I can give you a list of Chinese foreign ministers to look out for as well?

Also remember Russia got the tap from China saying it was okay to invade Ukraine even though China stated it was neutral from the start.

The USA was confronting both China and Russia, they had no choice. It was fight or fold and as you can see with what Canada is experiencing now, the USA cannot be trusted. They are friendly and then stab you in the back. Kissinger was right, to be a friend of America is fatal. Ukraine and Israel are both finding that out. Iraq did, Libya did, Ukraine did, and now we will see if Canada survives.
