They I believe had the time wrong, it was my understanding that the closest part of the flyby was just after six o'clock Eastern Time.I'm watching it but I see shit lol!
Yeah, there wasn't much in the way of visuals, just a small streak across the telescope field... it happened pretty fast and wasn't very large. Still, I thought the discussion was pretty good, interesting information presented in an accessible way.I'm watching it but I see shit lol!
Better keep a defibrillator nearby, just in case. ;-) Ah, Woody, I wish he was still with us... I mean, I know he's still with] us, but he's not really with us anymore, you know? *coughSoonYicough* :-(How's this one?
"Her curves described parabolas that would cause cardiac arrest in yak......."
Actually, your sexy feminine curves make my heart beat so fast! And, they have nothing whatsoever to do with yak!

Thanks, I'll keep those places in mind... I'll probably go out later in the week, and Tuesday nights are slow in pretty much every city. Thanks for the suggestions! At least in the Summer I've even seen amazing sights at the Five Fishermen Restaurant.
That's an idiotic thing to say. Those 'third world' countries would do well to show the initiative that the 'good old U.S' had!wow...those rockets could have fed a couple of million folks in starving third world countries for a lot of years. gotta love the priorities of the good old U.S.
Well if nothing else the food at Five Fishermen is good. Thanks, I'll keep those places in mind... I'll probably go out later in the week, and Tuesday nights are slow in pretty much every city. Thanks for the suggestions!
The USA and its taxpayers have no obligation to feed anyone elses population.wow...those rockets could have fed a couple of million folks in starving third world countries for a lot of years. gotta love the priorities of the good old U.S.
Not even the Soviet Union back in the day would've fed Africa, despite their system of wealth re-distribution which probably is more to whitewaterguy's liking. The USA and its taxpayers have no obligation to feed anyone elses population.
however they do feel obligated to have military bases occupying over 191 countries around the worldThe USA and its taxpayers have no obligation to feed anyone elses population.
the ideals and vision of space exploration themselves are simplistic, delusional and irrelevant. to suggest the intentions of a megalomanical society can be equated with the pursuit of "science" is a far stretch. It's government funded science for the benefit of government, exactly as in the cold/war space race scenario. Ethical scientists are spending their time devoted to solving human issues here on the planet. I know quite a few Canadian Phd. dudes with physics degrees who are working in the U.S...Where? On military basis..bettering the cause of mankind....rightWhy should the U.S. be the only one to sacrifice science or it's technological priorities to eradicate poverty or famine in Africa, when aid might end up in corrupt hands, or require costly military intervention to enforce it? What makes you think that they can cultivate more food to eradicate famine in Africa where birth rates are not even controlled?
I think your criticism of space exploration is simplistic and perhaps irrelevant. Even when you know that such budgets have been drastically curtailed, or costs significantly lowered using high-tech satellites and robotics to continue such exploration, the plight of Africans endures.
