"Mandatory Census". Sounds like fear tactics to me. If it wasn't mandatory no one would do it, right? This way they can get the vast majority of Canadians to do it. And think of all the pretty pie/bar charts they'll be able to do now. :D

What about our charter of rights? This infringes on those right. Does it not? I have nothing to hide but I just don't trust the Government with our personal data. Even more so now that we're sharing more and more personal data with the U.S. That's one nation you don't want to share your personal info with. Speaking of not trusting the U.S. Government, I can't wait for that Snowden movie. I'm sure it'll be loosely based on his story, but there must be some truth?

If you don't get the long census, it takes 5-10 minutes to do on line.
No sweat.
That's not the point. We're basically being forced to fill this shit out. At least that's the impression you get from the Media. "You could face a $500 fine or jail time.

im not filling that shit out.
So are we picking or choosing which law we want to follow today ?

I did mine . Took me all of 7 mins. They just want to know how many people stayed over night at your place on a certain day . I got the short form . No big deal .

I actually had to fill out 2 of them .

The government has to make it a law because there are too many idiots who would not fill it out if they didn't have to . Even with it being a law that you have to fill it out , there're idiots who still will not fill it out . Goes to show you how many idiots there are .

Maybe because it is important. That is the point.

And I suppose you don't wear your seatbelt because you're forced to.

Ridiculous rant over something extremely minor.

Does it really matter? Govt doesn't plan shit....they will spend for votes.
Yes exactly and the good people of Toronto fell for that line of shit when they voted back in the Liberals in Ontario in the last election .

I'm asking the question, does this infringe on our charter of rights? Do you trust the government to only use this personal information to better/improve the lives of Canadians? I know I sure don't. Look at all the incompetence we see in our gov today. And heaven forbid they're sharing this information with US government agencies. That's speculation of though..

I'm amazed how many people are paranoid about the government asking for simple information.

Especially since most the information is mostly known by one government agency or another.

Wasn't there an elderly woman who took the government to court and won? Putting an elderly female war veteran in jail is bad optics.

Question: Can you refuse the census on religious grounds?

We live in one of the best countries in the world. If the gov't uses the census as a tool to help move forward, why the hell would anyone not want to fill it out?

If you're so paranoid about things, run for office and clean things up.
I think you'd be unpleasantly surprised at how difficult it is to run a huge organization.
It's impossible to please everyone, so some tough decisions have to be made.
This applies to every level of gov't as well as large companies.

End of rant.

Ottawa base.
I got the short one and filled it out. Maybe 5 minutes

One of my other friends who's an escort got the long and it took her 45 minutes to fill it out, but again trying to say what you do for work when not outing yourself as an escort...

Canada has had a census in some form since 1871, and just now you're getting your panties in a knot?
Find a real battle to fight, ffs.

Actually she lost . Was found guilty . She got an conditional discharge but she had to do 50 hrs. of community work. That government is no longer in power . Let's see what the Liberals will do if someone refuses to fill one out .

I fail to see what religion has to do with anything . It's against my religion to pay any kind of income tax but I still have to make 4 instalment payments every year along with a cheque at tax time which was yesterday .
