Are there any nice places to go on dates in Thornhill/Vaughan?

I've been dating this girl that lives up in Thornhill. The only problem is that I live in Toronto. Whenever we do something either she spends about 30 - 45 minutes driving down to pick me up and then we go downtown and then she has to drive back or I spend the same about fo time driving up there to pick her up, driving downtown and the dropping her off afterwards and driving back home. I'd lke to be able to do some activites up by her place occasionally so neither of us has to do all that driving (especially with gas prices the way they are right now).

She says there's "nothing interesting in Thornhill" but there has to be some nice restaurants/lounges and parks and stuff up there. We're both 26 so I'm looking for something more mature (and not insanely expensive :D).

Oh, you could go to Thornhill Square or up to Hillcrest Mall or if you're really feeling adventurous you could go to CentrePoint Mall. Aint the suburbs grand.

Check out the Golden Star (and CentrePoint Mall is just down the street).
Do you still get rhymes with your burgers?

For desert you can drive over to get some warm Krispy Kremes and then hit WAGG. What date wouldn't be impressed?

That's surburban life.....Any restaurent, bar or club in the burbs, everyone living in the area will hang out. It gets boring quick.

Consider yourself to be lucky to live in the city where there is more variety and places to choose. Parking is a pain downtown.
There are pros and cons, but downtown Toronto is definitely more lively than hanging out in the burbs.

For after dinner, if you both are into it, Comedywood(a comedy club) at Bathurst and Steeles is fun...a typical show will have 2 comics plus the headliner and admission is not more than 20 bucks on a weekend...weeknights are 10 dollars.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Canadian Tire store at Yonge and 16th.

There are some good Chinese restaurants in the Pizza Hut/Red Lobster plaza just south of Clark.

Good Chinese restaurant just west of Young (first signal light) on the north side at the back of the plaza called Furama.

There is also a great Korean Restaurant just North of Clark on the Lt Side that serves awesome Korean BBQ. Jim Mi Rak

Just south of Centrepoint Mall on the West side there is a great Japanese Ramen (noodle) place called Kenzo.

Just south of the Toyota dealership there is a Korean dumpling house that has some quality foods called ManDuHyang.

On Young south of Finch there are tons of Karaok places that only have private rooms. Good way to kill a few hours.

There are more than a few quality Italian restaurants in Thornhill as well.

Movie theatre just north of 7.

Under the Sun Cafe just south of Major Mac.

Mel Lasman Square has lots of events that you might catch as well. (getting a bit too south?)

Tons of mini parks in Thornhill where you can just sit and relax.

Let me know what you are looking for and I might be able to point out some more places for you.

For Thornhill/Vaughn, your bet bet is the 400/Hwy 7 area. It has shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. The Promenade (major mall) is at Bathurst and Centre.
For Thornhill/Markham, the hotels and upscale restaurants are at the Leslie/Hwy 7 area.
Best to drive around and take a look. You get tired, you have your choice of massage parlours along East Beaver Creek!
