Unless you're willing to fork out $3000+ for a Faema, most coffee machines produce caffe (proper name, not espresso) that tastes like ass. Most of the Italian bakeries and bars use Faema.

Myself, I still use the cafe pot my father made 60+ years ago. For home brewing a moka pot is best...it's just not fru fru like some of the machine brands.

Faema is No.1, No. 2 is trying harder.

Sherway Gardens has a dedicated Faema shop.

If you want Faema, go to their showroom/store in Toronto or Woodbridge.
Otherwise, go to Anthony's espresso equip in Woodbridge.
Can fondle a ton of different machines to your heart's desire.
IMO unless you have time on your hands to gain or have real experience operating a manual or semi-automatic machine (which is a real skill) and time for constant maintenance etc, go get the best super-automatic machine that makes sense for you.
In either event, Anthony's is one of the better places to go to see and speak to people whose lives revolve around these machines.
Assuming you are in the GTA.

Anthony's Caffe Shop is located at 80 Carlauren, east of Weston Rd, north of 7.

Depending on where you live there is a Faema shop at Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke or the Faema Shop on the south side of Rutherford Rd just east of Jane. 3175 Rutherford Rd to be precise. I use an ancient Moka Pot my father made for home brewing, when I'm on the road I'll stop at Molise or Canosa Bakery for my caffine fix. Canosa also has the best porchetta sanguichi in all Toronto.

Remember folks, you can get away with asking for an espresso in Toronto - but not in Italy. If you don't ask for a caffe, they'll consider you a disrespectful tourist, they may give you a tazza that tastes like scrotum sweat. (a tazza is a caffe cup)

I use aDeLonghi Dedica Arte Espresso Machine ( you can get them for $300 when they are on special ) to make Amercano coffee. I do not want to pay for coffee pods so this is the best alternative to a Nesprsso coffee machine. The trick is to play around with your coffee mix. I use presidents Choice coffee and add in some freshly ground beans to enhance flavore. If you roast you bean in a pan and let it cool before you grind them you will get the best aroma boost.

Here is the place I got mine.

I got this machine about 3 years ago and I love it! You will need a very good grinder too!!!

This grinder is good.

The most important is to know how to dial in espresso shot. It takes time to get the feel for it.

If you do not know how to dial in the shot, it doesn't matter what machine you will use. It will taste bad.

I would definitely recommend getting one if you like coffee!

Enjoy!

Compare to you coffee connoisseurs I just have a little cheap cheesy Nespresso compact machine but it does the job in the mornings when I need that instant boost but im wondering if theres something different as in using ground espresso instead of the cups because where I am I have a hard time finding them in stock so im thinking what machine should I get that does groundesspresso and is it easy to do?

To dial in an espresso shot basically means that you want to get roughly twice as much liquid as the weight of coffee you used, in about 30 seconds.

For example: if you use 18 grams of coffee ( you will need a good scale too :)) you want to get 36 grams of espresso in about 30 seconds. You can use a stop watch or my machine has a timer on it.

Now if you get 40 grams of liquid in 30 seconds, you need finer grind. That's why you need a good grinder that has micro adjustment on it.

If after you made the grind finer and you get 30 grams of liquid you went to far and you need to try again with a little bit coarser setting.

Do that until you get 36g of espresso using 18g of coffee in 30 seconds.

You will have to do the same procedure every time you open a new bag of coffee.

It sounds like a lot of work but it's worth it!!!

They are almost the same

But you still need a good grinder!

It's all about being able to dial in the size of the coffee grounds!!!

I am the heretic here. Found a good as new in box nespresso machine in a dumpster from students moving back to China after uni and tossed all 120v stuff.
Reload my used pods with home ground from beans coffee held in place with aluminum reload lids bought off Amazon for about 200 for $20.

I bought a DeLonghi MagnificaS about 5 years ago from Costco for $1,000. They were $1,500 at the Bay. It makes espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and Americanos.

So far I've made about 1,400 shots which works out to about 70 cents per shot for the machine. It has a built-in grinder and the coffee costs me about a dime per shot. Way cheaper than ordering.

I gotta take it in for a tune up. The beans aren't feeding great. I have to jam the beans down as it's grinding to get it strong enough.

I feel that it was a decent purchase despite the current inconvenience.

Just got our grinding and mixing module in the from whole beans machine at work that I look after changed out.
The tech said that the beans after roasting still has some residual oils.
And that is mostly what munges up the machine after a long stretch of heavy use.
