Anyone else thinks that people who live in Condominiums are a bit anti-social?

Hey guys,

I was talking to many people, I've realized that some condos have somewhat laxer policies. However, others seem to be just as bad as the one I was staying in. Where people have tons of rules, it appears that two types of people live/use condos.

Wealthy people who don't live there and rent it to someone else: These landowners prefer to sign a one-year or two-year lease. They see the property primarily as a financial investment; hence they like to have all security cams, strict guest policies, pool policies, and constant remodeling of their property. For instance, they want to upgrade the kitchen to make more money. Even things that work and do not need any remodeling.

Conservative folks who live there: They have a "This is our property" mindset. Even the younger couple's with no children. Hence, they want security cams, strict guest policies, and no renters. They strongly wish for a "peace and quiet" environment. Another thing I've noticed is that they tend to see other residents as their rivals/competitors and not necessarily their friends. For instance, "the neighbors can't remodel their property since it infringes on my property." or "they broke X rule, I'll report them." If you see how they treat their neighbors, you can imagine what they think of renters or others, hint they don't like them.

Conclusions: I talked to someone online, and he told me that he avoids living on buildings with "front desk" security since those can bring long-term residents who tend to be more territorial. I must admit that some of the best accommodations experiences have been around renters or those who didn't own anything. For instance, staying at an "apartment building" where the company owns everything and then everyone there is only there temporarily, like less than six months. It does change the culture.

But I wanted to hear from you guys?

Owners have a vested interest in keeping the building safe, clean and secure. When strata restrictions are lifted on the percentage of rental suites allowed the quality of life in the building takes a nose dive. Renters don't give a shit and it shows.

A lot of the time it is folks who have downsized from detached homes, so have a mind set that they are the rulers of their dwelling like when they owned their own house and lot.

With the price of real estate in the GTA, the first assumption isn't that people can't afford the down payment or mortgage for a detached home?

OK....

Red House over yonder.
You are spending too much time alone. Don't be too shy. Accept some rejection. Talk to more people - through a mask if necessary. Try to get some fresh air and sunshine. Build up that vitamin D before winter. Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and a few nuts and have a drink once in a while. This regimen could improve your outlook and may promote hair growth.

Don't worry about things you can't do anything about. The other people in the building may report you for banging your head against the walls.

True but alot of owners don't give a shit either unless it directly effecta them inside their suits, out side in the common area is a different story

Interesting. In general, I guess it depends on the building? At the same time, it does seem some condo buildings discourage guest, renters, overnight stays..etc.

A friend lives in a condo. He is annoyed with people who don't wear a mask inside the elevator.

He must live in a shithole condo. AFAIK, it is a strict rule in almost every condo. I know that I'd be reported.

Is this really the place to be discussing these kinds of thoughts?
