i was spinning an LP of Rossini overtures before dinner. There is nice material beyond the usual William Tell
William Tell is fun, if you recall the Merry Melodies versions.
I did not realise it at the time that those cartoons exposed me to so many snippets of classical composers content.

To honour the day I've prepared a baccala dinner with roast potatoes, red peppers, onions and black olives. Also to post something full of sunshine, Mendelssohn's Symphony No.4 (Italian). He was a frequent visitor to Lo Stivale during his short life and it shows. The dances he inserted into the symphony are both vibrant and fierce. The Tarantella bridge in the first movement and the Saltarello Finale.

The music complex in Rome has had a name change, it is now known as the Parco di Musica Ennio Morricone. The complex with the main auditorium along with an outdoor concert hall and several recital halls is the home of the Accademia Di Santa Cecilia.
