Winter's Music.
Brahms exorcised two demons with his first Symphony, so haunted was he by the spirit of Beethoven he didn't complete it till he was 43. The second demon was the suicide of Robert Schumann, he wrote the opening exposition 15 years earlier. He wasn't happy with the opening directly into the main theme, so he added his expression of grief at the beginning.
I did attend a concert of the Symphony No.1 in Amsterdam. As stoned as I was, it's crystal clear in my memory.

Along with Beethoven's Eroica the 1st symphony of Brahms is one
of those rare monumental pieces that would take none other than an
insightful reading of the work on the part of the conductor along with
the most committed playing by the orchestra to bring out its greatness.
I've listened to all too many performances of Brahms's C minor symphony
delivered by absolutely 1st rate conductors and orchestras which I find
only marginally satisfying. Somehow I've found seeking out every performance
of the work a venture worthwhile.

In the film Amadeus, Mozart says that Salieri's music doesn't go anywhere. As simple and sweet as his music is, Amadeus always has a direction.

Gives me things to look for at thrift stores, etc.
I look for RCA ffrr series as well. They are 2 mics in a room to stereo recordings for smaller classical sets. I have one with a piano duet that plays straight for 20 minutes as a single take, no edits or errors by the musicians.

One of my favorite pieces is Brahm's Symphony No. 4 in E minor. The first theme in movement 1 is superb.
By the way, I heard that Brahm was in love with Clara Schumann, 14 years his senior. They spent some time with each other after Robert's death and even went on a vacation together. He never married her though.

Paul Mc Cartney and Rick Wakeman both tried their hand at writing classical show pieces. Keith Emerson's Piano Concerto is the most well known of the modern classics, influenced by Alberto Ginastera (Brain Salad Surgery).
As a great composer who was living single in Vienna Brahms would
have little inhibition hobbying. Like his two predecessors Schubert
and Beethoven Brahms 's sex life was confined to prostitution. I once
read that Brahms would play piano to a prostitute in a brothel.
Brahms used to play piano at a brothel when he was around 13 years old. I heard that the clients (mostly sailors) and the ladies there often abused him. As a result, Brahms hated the brothel and the ladies of the night. I am not sure if Brahms hobbied.
As for Schubert, I love his Ave Maria and Serenade. I know for fact that he did hobby and died because of syphilis - poor man.
And I didn't know that Beethoven used to hobby lol.
Classical music is an art form that portrays all of our lives through sounds. It helps to build relationships between people, awaken feelings, understand the meaning of life, and often supports a person in sorrow and joy. Classical music has been familiar to man since ancient times, which is why I like it and listen to it.
As Sir Charles said, truer words have never been spoken. Sir John Tavener published his liturgical work The Song of Athene in 1993. In 1997 it was sung at the Funeral for Lady Di, it's become synonymous with her.

Any discussion of Beethoven can go on for hours. I'll sum him up in a few short words.
