Anybody Like Classical Music?

I just don't understand alot of it. I don't hate it. I love music and play guitar (nothing great) but classical is to complex for me usually.
I think the monotony of modern pop music is driving people to classical music, at least the more intelligent ones.
That's only your intimidation talkin, get over it and your guitar playing will reach new heights. I hear the Paganini influence on Justin Richardson. He was a 19th Century violin virtuoso who liked to push boundaries.
You are right of course. I have JR's instructional vids, he preaches practice practice and more practice. I know Paganini is a huge influence on modern players. Adam De Micco from Lorna Shore is another guitarist heavily influenced by classical and Paganini in particular.
I don't listen to pop never have. I don't hate classical as I said I just find it too complex at times to really get into. I am trying though.

Sometimes politics gets in the music. It happened during WW II when the Soviet State told Shostakovitch and Prokofiev to write patriotic symphonies. Shostakovitch responded with the monstrous Leningrad Symphony. Prokofiev was less bloody, but in the spirit of Beethoven, he wanted his 5th Symphony to be grandiose.
I did see this performed live, the ending made my scalp tingle.

In 1585 Pope Sixtus V was looking for ways to keep his flock from going Protestant without the use of The Inquisition. So he founded the Academia di Santa Cecilia as The Vatican's house band and choir.

It wasn't the people that turned me off it was the horrible sound of the Money Pit. They had a world class conductor in Jukka Pekka and he left in frustration. Money was thrown at RTH to improve the sound quality; the concrete was covered up and the ground floor was turned into a shell. I hadn't gone to a concert in almost a decade when I decided to check it out. The sound had improved but it was still nowhere near the acoustics of The Symphony Center in Chicago and never will be. Chicago has the best orchestra in North America.
Aug 9th was the 78th Anniversary of the premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 (Leningrad). The work was meant to rally the people of the besieged city and to scare the Nazis. The first performance from Leningrad itself was broadcast throughout the USSR and the Allied countries. Maurice Ravel was spared living through WW II but it would have been interesting to hear what he though of Shostakovitch's arrangement of his Bolero.
