Any reports of looting and murder in Japan?

A few things about the Japanese on why there is no looting:

They have a strong sense of honour. They have a strong sense of duty. That is why you don't tip in Japan yet you still get awesome service. They also do not have the sense of entitlement that the west has. They are used to being self sufficient and any aid they get they are grateful. They do not beg or demand things for free (that is why it took them so long to ask for help). The concept of welfare disgusts them. And people on welfare who then complain it is not enough is even more shameful. They have unions but they don't go overboard like they do in the west. You are expected to perform your best, even the union expects that and if you don't, you should get removed. Can't say that about unions here.

Japan is also a very homogeneous society. They are not very divided like in the west, especially like the USA where you have various ethnic groups who do not get along. It is easier to rally together when everyone is the same (looking out for your own kind). They are also very structured and following chain of command and keeping order is expected. So no chaos. In that regard, they are a collective society. Even their social activism is orderly. The G20 "activists" they saw here disgust them.

What about us? heck we riot and loot when our hockey teams win playoff games. 'nuff said.

Maybe there won't be any looting at all and if that happens, the Japanese should pat themselves on the back, and we should praise them for their exemplary behavior. For what it's worth, from the footage I've seen, there isn't any to loot. However, I would reserve any statements about looting until later. People who shared the OP's worldview were quick to ask "why is there no looting in Egypt?" when the revolution began. I smirked when reading such posts thinking to myself how little some people seem to understand human nature. So many people were dumbfounded. Theories about their pride, honor, culture, and race blossomed. Then . . . newscasters began reporting about . . . looting in Egypt! Their own museums, full of priceless emblems and artifacts of Egypt's rich unique history were being looted!

There is no question that Japanese culture is vastly different from ours, and ours from people born and raised in US ghettos. It speaks to the composition of the people, the innate predisposition of the people, and the long chain of historical events stretching thousands of years that make Japan unique in the world. And different from Haiti.

Filipino people strike me as very industrious, yet the Philippines is no Japan. On the other hand, for all their pride and decency, apparently the Japanese talk while in libraries so that people cannot study. Unlike Charlie Sheen, not even the Japanese win at everything.

Anyway, I wouldn't trade our individualistic culture for Japan's collective culture for anything.

How can she tell with certainty there's no mistaken identity, namely mixing up between the Chinese, South Koreans and Japanese? She doesn't look like somebody in her ethnic background who could figure out different Asians.

BTW, not going to be surprised the Japanese are innocent.

This shows that Dogs in Japan are more humane than humans, better than some here and those low caliber materials among the Japanese neighbors.

Shoot, this must put the G20 and OCAP protestors to shame.

On the other hand, at least one TERBIE will accuse the Japanese of being "sheeples" for not smashing windows, burning police cars, blocking the intersection at Spadina & Queen, storming City Hall, etc.

Dunno but I could not recall there are Asians descents participating, not even 2nd and 3rd generations. No?

Not going to be surprised there are more than half a dozen.

Sir (or madame), you forgot to add the disclaimer that not ALL Egyptians are looters.

Absolutely, all for one and one for all. Ooops, one for one and one for one. Every man (or woman) for himself.

No surprise. I heard PM Naoto Kan was mad as hell when he realized he was duped by the stooges at Tokyo Electric Co before he met the press.

A really big blow to the Japanese reputation since nonsense like this in that neighborhood is notoriously associated to the Mandarin mainland Chinese speakers, NOT Japanese and to a certain extent South Koreans.

Is Anderson having an asthma attack? What's with a the high pitched wheezing
on his inhalations after he talks. Very annoying and distracting.
Never noticed it to be so bad. But to play devil's advocate, maybe it's the elevation he's at? But he doesn't look too high.
Maybe it's the air quality? Although he and Gupta do have monitors with them for the radiation.
Who knows, he's a great journalist and probably one of the most keen, intelligent, honest ones around.

Is Toyota a Chinese or South Korean company? Wherever shame or disgrace is a major concern, this type of stuff will happen.
