Do you ask your doctor to offer a discount?

How about your shrink, any haggling with him/her to lower their costs for you?

Or how about your dentist? Sports therapists?

There are many service providers that discounts are not negotiated, just like there are some services that negotiating is common. You can't conclude that all service providers are the same, just like you can't conclude all product providers can be negotiated with. Some yes, some no.
how about your handy man, mechanic, roofer ? do you accept the first offer they throw at you ?

here you are comparing women to items. not very cool.
Interesting how you conclude that I compare women to items. Nice try, but no dice.

buying a product is different as you well know. you saying you don't negotiate when you are looking for a handy man ?
With a handyman I usually look for competing bids, then pay the full amount of the one I choose.
If I have a regular guy I expect him to keep his price fair but start looking for someone else if I sense he's gouging me.
I haggle with stuff I buy on craigslist or at flea markets.

every example you compared it to till i said something was an item. ring, dinner, etc...
So? Do you have a point? Or do you just like posting, lol. Nothing to look for here, I have a lot of respective for the ladies in this business, they charge whatever they wish, I don't haggle, I move on if I find a lady out of my price range and find a lady I'm willing to pay the price she advertises.

all i am saying is haggling is part of human nature and if you are in the service industry you should expect it. he asks, you say no, he says okay, carry on with your business.

the first thing that came to your mind when comparing women was items.
So? I ask again, do you have a point? Spit it out, don't beat around the bush.

simon482, suppose when you arrive at work the boss asks if you'll take a 10% cut in pay for that day. Would it piss you off a little bit or would you take it in stride as just your usual negotiating that comes with life?

I don't agree, there are certain service industries you don't haggle. Ask your doctor, as an example.

You can ask if you have the balls, but he/she will show you the door.

This is a private encounter though and haggling an sp makes you an undesirable client. It's not about money it's about other factors. This industry cannot be lumped together with any other.
i am just saying to expect it because you are in the service industry. right or wrong it's gonna come your way. you can get offended or make a joke about it and carry on, that is entirely your choice.

Simon, you didn't answer my question from before, so I'll ask you straight up.

If a lady posts on her website and in her ad, do not negotiate my rates, do you still call her and try to negotiate even though she made it clear in her advertisements?

do you go into your boss and negotiate a raise ? boss won't ask you to take a pay cut he will just cut your hours back, does that without asking. we are also not talking about a boss/employee relationship.

Why else you you perpetuate the stupid Sir thing?
I'm conversing with a man older than myself.
I show respect for my elders by calling them 'sir' or 'ma'am' respectively until they ask me to call them by their first name.

Sir, I trust you will find that explanation satisfactory.
