Just wondering if any guys here have had any urological procedures done like cystoscopy, TURP, Urolift, Rezum, etc.? If so, please share your experiences. My urologist wants to do a cystoscopy on me. Not looking forward to getting anything shoved up my pecker!

had my cystoscopy 2016. it was a walk in the park. I was scared as fuck just reading about the procedure...who wouldn't...a camera going through your urethra? WTF!
So I will walk you through it...
I did it in the Oshawa Hospital...I was fucking getting killed with anxiety just because of the wait....I was suprise how many people are seeing a urologist...about 8 before me...women men....
it was my time now...I was already briefed by my doctor about the procedure a week before...and i've briefed myself (didn't help)
I was brought in...if I remember correctly...the put numbing cream...then gel through catheter...i felt pressure ( a lot ) not pain...pressure...like you're going to pee but something is stopping you from peeing......or like peeing backwards....it was cold too....then I remember the doctor & two nurses talking about lunch...lol...I'm conscious but not engaging...then it was done...you will feel pain on your first 5 pee....with a bit of blood on the first 2... I would say the wait for the biopsy is more stressful than having the cycstoscopy...1 week later...I was cleared and no "cancer of the bladder"... I'd do it again if the need arises...go through it if only to detect a much more serious condition you can prevent...

Cystoscopy- 1st one was horrible, 2nd a breeze.
During procedure neither felt any pain nor was conscious both times. Each time prior I told them I was frightened and said "give me the works" - whatever sedatives you can muster. Even lied about my weight because they often dose it by body weight (added 10kgs lol). Have no memory of the procedure either time - fantastic!

However, regaining consciousness is where the experiences diverge.

On 1st one apparently had to break a stricture in the urethra and the first piss after regaining consciousness hurt more than almost anything I've ever experienced. Blood too. Was shitscared to piss for the rest of the day. My dick was so scared it retreated in on itself so much it popped out my arse as a tail lol. Omfg. Just awful.By 2nd day still hurt but finally became bearable.

On 2nd one 5 years later...was shitscared again prior to first piss after consciousness restored due to previous experience,- but, no pain at all, just a tiny touch of soreness. By mid day felt normal.

Had a cystoscopy and circumcision done at the same time in 2018. The circumcision was one of the best decisions I ever made and regret doing it so late in life. The cystoscopy was a walk in the park. The circumcision took about 3 to 4 months to fully heal. No issues with either except for some loss in sensation with circumcision but that was expected.

Not sure if this counts. Once had a Q-tip inserted inside my ureter to collect a sample for STD testing.

Wait why is a cystoscopy done? Is it a normal thing you need like a colonoscopy when you get older?
Sometimes there is unexplained blood cells in your urine so they take a peek at the bladder wall or urethra for any lesions. Or some other obstruction, etc. Iike a colonoscopy for the front lol

They would have to do a urinalysis for that to know there is blood cells no? Is that usually found during STI testing or something else?
Yes that's usually how it starts. Urinalysis is routine in annual checkups, looking for kidney, liver, other disorders, cancer, etc. Sometimes it's just polyps in the bladder wall, or cancer, or some sort of ulcer, etc. Somet8mes unexplained bladder pain. But usually these cystoscopys are done in relation to some finding,, not for routine screening.

That sounds nothing at all like the types of procedures that OP is talking about. SMH.

Couldn't pee back in 2010 got a catheter shoved up there to drain about 5 gallons of pee. Wasn't pleasant but wasn't unbearable. Nice to lose the 5 gallons of pee. Worst day was when I went for an appointment to meet the surgeon who was going to do the turp. Nurse pulled out the catheter and told me to pee. No dice. They led me into an examination room where they shoved a camera up my dick and she and the doctor chatted about the hockey game whilst looking up at the tv screen and occasionally remarking on how my prostate was "huge". Then back to getting another catheter. Had to sign some forms with a shaky hand and left. The turp was a doddle. I can still fuck. You will be glad to know.

My experience about 20 years ago was very similar to your 2nd one.

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys. I’m getting a cysto because I have bph and didn’t do well with the flow test and the bladder scan right afterwards meaning I didn’t empty my bladder completely. So I think the urologist wants to check both bladder and prostate to get a baseline as he said. I’m really not looking forward to this. Just can’t imagine how a big snake they use can actually fit inside my pecker but I guess somehow it does.

Not sure how we got on circumcision. Now you got me curious. Why get it done when you are an adult?
A small cut on the tag of skin under the head would not heal and became tighter and tighter over time.
Tried a small operation to modify this tag of skin but it did not work as the urologist thought most likely.

You'll be asleep and won't even realize it happened when you wake up. It's really no big deal.

I have exact same issue as you. After cystoscopy, dr determined that a also had a thinner than usual bladder neck which also contributed to the problem along with bph.

I had a cystoscopy last year and it was not a big deal. I really expected it to be painful and it wasn't. I had a vasectomy about 20 years ago. Recovered from minor pain and swelling in a few days but missed a week or so of beer league hockey.

I won’t be asleep as it will be just numbing gel like the others got. I actually prefer this for now because of my circumstances as I need to drive home afterwards to care for an aging dog. Sedation or general anesthesia would not enable me to drive home and it’s a two hour trip.

Question for the guys who had a cysto, did you all get catheters afterwards or this was not needed if you could pee on your own?
Also did taking any painkillers help with the post cysto recovery?

I was able to pee normally right away after the cysto. I was given painkillers in case needed but ended up not taking them. I was awake the whole time and the urologist talked me through the entire procedure and I could see the whole thing on a monitor.
