In fact, if you were to ask gays their opion of how a lot of religions, including the catholic church, look at homosexuality, they will tell you its NOT looked on very favourably, and they have a dislike of the churches for this reason.

This is not from some official response from the catholic church, which would of coarse deny it, but from individuals.

One of the main reasons is, your not producing any catholic babies, similar to the long standing aversion to condoms, masturbation etc.

they just teach that gay sex is wrong, unless it is performed by a priest on a young boy and then it is our little secret.

They don't teach that, but I suppose you can argue their actions send another message. The Catholic Church is complicit in covering up and forcing victim's and their families to settle out of court for nominal amounts. How can a victim challenge the might of the CC?

As one priest said (and he's a young, cool and good RC priest), the vast majority of clergy is good. Those involved in such crimes constitute a tiny percentage. For the most part, the Church, through it's charitable causes, does more good than not. However, covering up the bad doesn't make help with the rest of their image.
