During the Summer this young lady caught me looking up her skirt and flashed me a quick smile.
don't let your good luck go to your head. they usually wear bike shorts under the skirts. i might have looked once or twice myself. did see green panties once tho.

Gameboy I have had the same thing happen to me in parking lots, as you are swivelling your head to make sure you see it all, there is always some asshole who walks right behind you as you are backing up and then gives you the dirty look when you slam your brakes on like you have some sort of radar happening and should have seen them all along. FFS, no common sense at all.

I have berated the odd cyclist for being arogant and stupid because they have the right to be on the roadway and think that everyone should look out for them because of their rights. My old stand by to their retort is, you'll never see this vehicle in the hospital, but that's where you'll end up, if your lucky.
Awesome, I think I'll use that line next time if I may. :)

Seven pedestrians, including a baby in a stroller, hit by cars so far to-day.
I find a lot of pedestrians just assume drivers see them and walk blindly in front of vehicles. When I'm a pedestrian, I make sure that if I'm crossing the street whether it's at a stop light or crosswalk that the driver sees me and is going to stop.

As a pedestrian one should never assume a car is going to stop. For example, you get to a crosswalk, you push the button do you then immediately start crossing? No, you wait until the cars come to a complete stop before stepping in front of them. If they're a ways off, make sure you can get to the other side before reach you.

I heard about the baby getting hit in the stroller. My first thought was, if that was me pushing my kid out in front of me across a crosswalk, I'd make damn sure the cars came to a complete stop before we proceeded. Sure it's the driver's fault if the baby gets hit but it's totally preventable. People have to use common sense and not assume every driver sees them all the time. You're not going to win a car/pedestrian collision, regardless of who is at fault.

I've seen many pedestrians cross against a red light or those who are still walking and don't bother to hurry when the light changes. Everyone, including bikers and pedestrians should be bound to obey the laws and rules of the road........not just the drivers out there.

Just got in from dinner.

Was driving downtown and a young (cute) chinese looking girl on her pink Hello Kitty bike zoomed out from between pedestrians waiting on the sidewalk and into the intersection on a red light. I had no time to react and but for the timing I would have hit her and she would have come through the windshield.

I am getting a dash cam tomorrow. Seriously. It would have been my word against this young sob story girl on her pink bike and blood everywhere.
Please let us know how the research into your dashcam goes. I thought about it too, including mounting my iPhone onto the dashboard. What is the easiest setup, all that. Merci!

Just need a quick "exit strategy" for the dash cam in case you're at fault. I've thought about this too. :)

Although, a dash cam would prove my point when it comes to idiot cyclist putting their lives in danger, only to live another day due to my awareness and avoidance of their stupid actions. Seriously, I'd have so much footage if I had one of those cams!

at this point, we have no idea if the driver was at fault. he was charged with careless driving so the case will be investigated and probably go to court. at that time of day, it's a free-for-all. peds in dark clothes not looking, drivers with lights in their eyes. we're just lucky more aren't hit. this is a big city. i think we're doing well when you consider how many peds just walk/run where-ever they want. and how many drivers are distracted. (this thread really has legs!).

Driving today I had two near misses by really bad drivers.
One tow truck driver whipped through a crosswalk at about 30km over the limit with a pedestrian about halfway and me about to turn left onto the street since traffic was supposed to stop with the crosswalk. The pedestrian and I had to think quick.
And later a traffic light was down with most people doing the right thing and treating it as a four way stop, except for two arses who came whipping up behind a car in the right hand lane and nearly got creamed in the intersection.

There are idiot pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. But being a driver requires extra diligence since you have a lot of metal with you that doesn't stop so easily. The bigger the vehicle the more cautious you need to be.

On the same day yesterday, a car smashed into a tree and another car smashed into a computer store. Apparently, both the tree and the store were not wearing reflective clothing.

Just wait until we get some snow.
Those trees are going to have to get safety lights.

A couple of days ago, 9 pedestrians, including a baby stroller, were hit by cars. A police officer blamed the pedestrians for wearing dark clothes. This is like that other officer who blamed women dressing like sluts for getting raped. Yes, it is always the victim's fault. I guess when kids get hit, it is because they are short and small and, therefore, drivers can't see them.

Downtown today, a cyclist blew through a red light in the middle of Bay and Wellington, weaved through cross-traffic, and nearly struck two older gentlemen pedestrians cossing with the light. They had to hop out of the way. No sense at all.

It is a jungle out there, but it is only cars that kill. They kill pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists. They even have been know to kill a few trees by smashing into them.

Seems to be the norm that pedestrians don’t check with the driver before going in front of the car, they just walk. Not sure if it is because pedestrians feel they have the right of way and the victim is not to blame, or they don’t understand the danger.

Update on this story: "Sapiano is calling on police and the Crown to reopen the case, now that they’re acknowledging Samson was stationary or near-stationary, waiting to turn left, as he was lawfully obliged to be, when he was rammed from behind."

For some unknown reason, I was unable to open your link.

Sapiano believes the initial conclusions were the result of a shoddy investigation, something he suggests is indicative of a systemic failure by police to conduct thorough investigations when cyclists or pedestrians are killed after being struck by cars on city streets.

I live downtown Toronto, and I lost count how many bicyclists I see running red lights and stop signs on any given day.

They get very little sympathy from me
