Silencer is a false term. You can't silence a projectile. You can only reduce the noise level. You should still be wearing ear protection when using one as it leaves most guns equipped with one louder than an ambulance siren. That's far from silent.

If you've read up on the subject, you'd learn that suppressors are an item that are becoming LESS restrictive in Europe and are 100% legal in the United States. Their use is INCREASING because of the benefits of less hearing damage to the shooter and less noise pollution.
Even if true, none of this changes your original fake news assertion that silencer is a term made up by the media. Suppressor is a bullshit name to disassociate the article from gun use more than if one uses silencer.

You changed your story once called out.

Polls are not accurate. If they were, Trump would not be President.
The polls were correct. Clinton got more votes. The rigged electoral college gave trump the win.

What Americans say and what they want are two different things. It wouldn't be a $43 billion dollar industry if it wasn't what they wanted.
So you are saying they say they are against gun violence but are really for it?

I haven't changed my story. I said you can't silence a projectile, which it true. Silencer is a misleading term. A totally BS term would be a sound moderator, which is what right wing idiots want to call the thing.

Calling it a silencer is propaganda since you can't silence a projectile.

Calling it a suppressor is an accurate term since it reflects what the device can actually do, REDUCE the noise.

How about you actually read the question instead of manipulating things:

Americans have shown what they really want with their wallet.

They want their guns and they don't want any more restrictions. Guns are ingrained in their culture and they are the number 1 gun owners in the world by a substantial margin. That is their society. You don't have to like it, and you can't change it.

You wouldn't ask that question if you have used a handgun or lived near a range.

There's not reason anyone needs a Rolls Royce or multiple flat screen televisions, but people buy them.

A suppressor in no way increases the lethality of any firearm anyway, so why are you so upset about it?
Handguns are for shooting other people, that is their only use.
Just wear ear protection when you use them on the shooting range, there is no reasonable excuse for selling silencers to the public.
And yes, projectiles make a sound when the gunpowder explodes in them as they are fired. Its not the gun making that noise, its the projectile.

At least rifles have legit uses for hunting.

Both your statements show you don't know anything about shooting.

For the third time, suppressor use is being ENCOURAGED by European countries to cut down on noise pollution. Even in Canada, suppressor use is on the increase in an effort to reduce hearing loss, the number one claim for law enforcement and military. The USMC is using suppressors in some units, and JTF2 uses them. The British Columbia Sheriffs are now equipped with suppressors. They already wear earplugs AND over the ear protection, but extended exposure still causes hearing loss.

The RCMP is using suppressors so they can still train to address the noise compliants made by local residents.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/rcmp-training-noise-1.3865157

Suppressors are also 100% legal in the U.S. and have absolutely no effect on the lethality of the firearm, so there's no reason not to own one.

Saying just wear earplugs shows you've never shot at an indoor range or lived near a shooting range.

A pistol does not have one purpose and it is not just for killing people. Use the internet and get educated on firearms.

Start by looking up IPSC, which is in over 100 counties and is over 40 years old. In the US alone, there's over 30,000 members in the USPSA arm of IPSC.

Then there's IDPA and bullseye shooting.

SILENCERS were invented and named over 100 years ago. Absolutely nothing to do with media or propaganda. This is pure fake news/spin from the raving right.

So here’s a question: gun people who don’t want gun control laws, what do you think should be done about all these shootings? I assume you’re not ok with thousands of people dying every year from gun violence, so what’s your solution?

Guns have one purpose, inflicting harm or death, AKA violence. If Americans want them and spend on them and do virtually nothing to curtail the killing, then they are accepting of the violence they create. That is the choice they have made. There is no manipulation there.

Oh, target shooting AND shooting humans.
So many practical uses I can see why you like them.

Oh, and are you still claiming projectiles don't make any sound?
'Cuz I'd love to see your comparison of gun noise using and not using projectiles for noise levels.

There are plenty of solutions. What is missing is the WILL to implement them, like every other civilized country has done. Only in the U.S. is there gun violence of this magnitude

I agree, but I’m curious what the pro-gun people think. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pro-gun person offer a solution, I’ve only ever seen them try to poke holes in every potential solution people come up with. I kind of suspect many of them don’t actually care all that much that people are getting killed and are more concerned with not having their toys taken away, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Target shooting is older than golf by the way. So many practical uses for golf clubs too, right? The sport ain't going anywhere whether you like it or not.

Show me where I said projectiles do not make any sound.

Wait! You won't be able to because I never made that claim!

Even subsonic projectiles make a sound. Supersonic ones make even more noise when they break the sonic barrier.

Americans as a whole don't like to be told what to do, so that's part of the problem. They are also not as passive as Canadians, so any efforts to seize their property has a high probability of ending in violence. America was also founded by the gun, so it's deeply rooted in their culture. Then there's the Second Amendment issue. The only strategy that has proven to reduce firearm sales has been to do nothing. Any talk of regulation drives firearm sales through the roof. All these issues and more are the reason it's tough to get legislation passed. It's a very complicated issue. Simple solutions such as bans just aren't possible.

True:
1)threatening
2)pistol whipping
3)merely injuring but not killing
4)starting the 100 yard dash
5)hammering nails
You can do all that with a lot of things, not just a pistol.

I think I've told you this before, but use the internet to find out about firearms, The FACTS are out there.

Ok, but then saying the best thing to do is nothing is accepting this as the status quo. It’s a tacit admission that gun people are ok with sacrificing a few thousand innocent lives each year (while seemingly not realizing that the relatively random nature of these sorts of attacks means they could be one of those few thousand) if it means they get to keep their guns. You don’t think the way things are now is perfectly fine, do you?

You know firearms are used in the Olympics for sport, right?

Even less reason to own a pistol BTW, how do you pistol whip someone without a pistol?

My takeaway from that post is that you cannot really think of any actual purpose for a pistol that does not involve harming a living entity and cannot be done with some other implement.

Without an answer, the debate is over. You lose.

They are far from fine down there, that's for sure. It seems to be the way Americans want things though.
