Hey guys. I'm curious perhaps its just my vehicle. For the past six weeks or so I've been getting strange interference on my radio on my commute into work during the dawn on some AM stations. None at all on the way home.

Anybody else?

I thought it was budget cuts by the Conservatives. It is only some stations because they went after the ones that have left leaning broadcasts
This can mean only one thing, Conservatives have teamed up with aliens to kill all Liberals

I'll cut to the chase to eliminate stupid comments like some in post 2. I think solar flairs are causing this interference. It was very strong this morning

Long winded

AM is more likely to be disrupted by any interference because the signal is amplitude modulated.....in other words interference...."noise" is really no different than what the station is broadcasting,...... so if the signal your getting from your radio station is not much stronger than the "noise", your just getting a battle of who wins.

FM, on the other hand is frequency modulated, and therefore much more able to handle "noise", as your receiver can then differentiate from "noise" which varies in amplitude, and the info your trying to listen to which is changing by varying frequency.

I bet ..... now your sorry you asked

Likely solar flares messing with the ionosphere. Sunrise is problematic enough for AM, but there are reports of a solar storm hitting about now.

SORRY, didn't realize that EVERYBODY knew the 2 different types of modulation !!!!!

Maybe its STATIC from an overloaded cerebellum.
