I've never taken the bait when it comes to arguing over which is the best league. What does "best" mean anyway? If you want an arbitrary measure, perhaps you could look at which country makes the biggest waves in European competions, (UEFA or now Europa Cup and CL).

For me, I like aspects of each league. The atmosphere of a big English game is hard to beat, the attacking creativity of La Liga, the technical brilliance of Series A....why choose just one?

Luckyjackson and I have had a tendency to agree to disagree, yet his comments on which is the superior league puts the topic to rest.

An official medical report has not been issued but I suspect that C Ronaldo has the same ankle fracture that has kept Alberto Aquilani from playing since last April. If that is true than any talk of him playing for Portugal is sheer madness. If the Portuguese dont have the fortitude to defeat Bosnia-Herzegovina without him then they dont derserve to go to South Africa.

I completely agree with the leagues being different and that is good, being of English descent of course I love my EPL but all 3 leagues are like pie and cake to me. Both are good and I love them.

Ahh no Ribery for France and possibly no whiny Ronaldo for Portugal, one can dream of a WC without either of those two countries and their annoying players and supporters.

The end must be nigh if we agree twice in a day. Actually, I only disagree out loud, and keep silent mostly when I agree, so you might be surprised how often we agree.

I think if Queiroz calls Ronaldo, it will be simply to show the Portuguese public that he isn't being bullied by Real Madrid. It seems obvious that he is not fit to play, and the Portguese doctors probably just want the chance to nod their heads and say so.

Bosnia won't be easy, but it's true, if we can't beat them, our players may as well watch the W.C. on t.v. like the rest of us.

We're also going to be without a couple of other important players. They have their work cut out for them.

Instead we have to put up with Ca$hley Cole and John Terry. Give me Ribery and CRon anytime over those two.

the next time Cole or Terry roll on the ground like they been shot with an elephant gun, then cry and whine to the referee for a card to be given you post back ok ;)

strictly speaking of cry baby Ronaldo, I have nothing but respect for Ribery even though he is French hehee

All three made the top 10 most hated according to the clip above and at least one has talent.

Hey and specially for you Scouser, rumour has it that Gerrard taught N'Gog how to dive...:D
Proof in this clip:

Ronaldo is guilty of diving, and worse of doing it badly, (though he's getting better!), but how much worse is it to be the kind of hypocrite Gerrard manages to be? Bemoaning the diving of others, when he's just as big a cheat himself? That takes a special kind of asshole.

England without Capello = virtually no chance
England with Capello = a pretty good chance
England will have to beat, assuming all of the usual suspects qualify, at least two of:

Spain
Brazil,
Netherlands,
Germany,
Argentina,
Italy,
Portugal,
France

Can't see it, no chance of winning:(

And that's not even taking 20 odd countries that can give England a pretty good go on their day.

So then: "On any given day"? Let's take the days between July 30, 1966 to the last major tournament like Euro 2008 (Oh yeah, never qualified for that one, sheesh!) and who has England beaten since then to win what?

That's a lot of days!!

sports are all about what have you done for me lately, past games, stats, records are all nice discussion points for fans and pundits but at the end of the day are completely meaningless to the players on the field. What did France do before winning the WC in 98 is a good example.

So they haven't won a major tournament that doesn't mean they can't beat any team on any given day especially the way they are playing now with their current coach. The previous poster stated they had NO chance, i say that is false and if you would let go of your anti England biase for one second you would have to agree with that.

Exactly! Or Greece in Euro 04 is another example.
You got to have a little luck to, No major injuries, couple
of the heavyweights get knocked out. Having said that,
NO WAY England wins the WC next year. :D
