that makes no senseAnd lots of them are in Sweden. Prostitution is illegal in Sweden but only johns can be convicted. It is not illegal for women to offer services, only for men to buy.
Of course. Because they do not receive the benefits of male attention, they want to control and regulate male behaviour.Have you ever noticed that a very strong majority of ultra feminists who rant about rape and prostitution are ones you'd never to pay to fuck, or do it pro bono in the first place?
Not really. They're just attacking the demand side of "the problem".that makes no sense
Yeah but isn't it usually the more liberal a country, the more accepting of prostititution (and sex in general)? Like the USA is more conservative so their laws on prostitution are a lot more strict...Not really. They're just attacking the demand side of "the problem".
Also no surprise as Sweden is extremely leftist.
Scandinavia hasn't been in the forefront of the sexual revolution for many, many years. The larger Western countries overtook it 30 years ago. Even in the mid 80's, a buddy of mine who had moved there complained that porn was illegal and unobtainable.Much of the other Scandinavian countries too. For a place that is commonly admired for being forward thinking, this attitude is disappointing.
No, two sides of the same coin.Yeah but isn't it usually the more liberal a country, the more accepting of prostititution (and sex in general)? Like the USA is more conservative so their laws on prostitution are a lot more strict...
either which way you go it doesnt fair well...too far left or too far right.Yeah but isn't it usually the more liberal a country, the more accepting of prostititution (and sex in general)? Like the USA is more conservative so their laws on prostitution are a lot more strict...
Her sign should just have the word "Some" at the beginning, in which case a truer sign I will never have seen.yup, just like that
However, over the past four decades I haven't seem (at least on this continent) political parties that have elected officials who support the "Ultra-Chauvinist Male" perspective (women shouldn't be able to vote, work, be able to own property) there are, however, any number who from their actions and statements seeming support the "Feminazi" perspective - to name but one Senator Cantwell of Washington.I'm sure we have all seen the counterpart of the feminazi, the ultra-chauvinist male. Fortunately the bulk of reasonable society falls somewhere between these two misguided polar opposites.
I guess that is why so many Swedish SPs do tours to places like Dubai lol. This has taken effect in some countries like Sweden, where a guy caught with a prostitute is prosecuted in the same section of the criminal code as a guy who beats his wife. By the way the only thing that is being raped when I see an SP is my bank account
Sure, blame the victim (LOL) .And lots of them are in Sweden. Prostitution is illegal in Sweden but only johns can be convicted. It is not illegal for women to offer services, only for men to buy.
That Prof is definitely way out there. You could argue, in an equally insane manner, that no male can validly consent to sex with a woman because his biological drives are too strong. But that is one of the functions of universities and the arts - to provide a forum for intellectual debate of seemingly insane ideas. As with Marxism, you can sometimes glean a few useful concepts from a wildly radical position. It's the classic 1980's Radical Feminism position. Those women believed that our current civilization as a whole was just a vicious and ruthless system of exploiting and oppressing women. I once had a Women's Studies Prof with saggy tits and a crew cut explain to me that ALL hetero sex is rape because women cannot validly consent to any form of sexual contact with men due to the inherent duress caused by sexist oppression in our society.
While few people take this crap seriously, the proponents of these views are entrenched in the grant-giving mechanisms of our universities and arts councils and thus, these opinions survive and are duly trotted out as "respectable" and "thought-provoking" whenever the subject arises.
The anti-prostitution and "all prostitution is violence against women" position is indeed very much influenced by the 80's Radical Feminist philosophy and activist movement. But while Radical Feminists were once entrenched in many North American Women's Studies programs, they have never been more than a whisper in the grant-giving mechanisms of universities, and have now mostly disappeared from most major Women/Gender Studies programs. It's the classic 1980's Radical Feminism position.
