Totally misleading title It was originally created to fund pensions now it’s used to maintain war memorials and gravesites

yes but its NOT "funding the confederacy"

if the funds are allocated to blacks other funds will have to be used to maintain the memorials and graves
It's maintaining memorials to slavery proponents. How noble a way to spend tax money.

if you think the us civil war was only about slavery you need to do more reading it was about many things

the dead are not losers or traitors they are only dead

I can tell by your comments you have no respect for men who had the guts to fight and die for something

The Civil War really was 99% about slavery. Most of the seceding states said as much. They had no other genuine reason to secede.

And I agree with your comments about the dead and respecting them.

But the War was cleaned up and re written and mythologized after it happened and the memorials were erected to intimidate the Black population. That's courtesy of my American History MA niece who told me that the number of memorials erected to the Confederacy generally spiked at times of Black political and social assertion.

The soldiers were brave, honourable guys who died for a bad cause. Most of them were poor sharecroppers who died so rich planters could stay rich by owning slaves for another 20 or 30 years. I don't think they should be disrespected, but I think America has to move on from honouring the Confederacy.

Where did I write that I think the U.S. Civil War (speaking of respect) was only about slavery?

Show me where I wrote that the graves shouldn't be maintained?

Actually it was your fearless leader, you know the only twice impeached POTUS in history, who referred to service men and women losers and suckers.

And weren't the soldiers who fought for the confederacy traitors?

In Vietnam there are statues and memorials to great American soldiers that died during the Vietnam war. Just kidding, only in America do the losers who fought against the state get statues and memorials.

And do you know there are American Legion posts down here with resolutions condemning the stolen election?

And weren't the soldiers who fought for the confederacy traitors?

It's a little more nuanced than that. In the confederate states the monetary value of chattel slaves was second only to the value of land. These people were only defending their "rhats", albeit property rights. Even so, the Buchanan administration offered a deal: continue to collect all foreign import duties for the US Govt. and buy all US Govt. land (largely fortifications) in the states wanting to secede. The South chose war and has been paying the price ever since...

Easy solution. Turn said "Confederate Memorial Park" into a home for homeless pigeons and wildlife refuge. No hunting or campfires allowed. By the time govt. gets done with lawsuits from butt hurt losers, there won't be any actual money to spend on black history or anything else...

You parrot the chosen ones talking points without any critical application of objective fact. Whether or not you voted for him you obviously take you direction.

Leaving the union was an act of sedition which makes people who led and fought for the confederacy traitors although i would be far less critical of soldiers than officers.

That may all be true but seceding was not the answer to maintaining your property rights which in large measure depended on slavery.
