Air Crash at Pearson

On the news right now, Plane Crash @ Pearson.

a lufthansa 737 with 200 people on it skidded off the runway and is on fire now. its on ccn now

It's unlikely that it is a 737, they cannot hold that many. Plus they are not used on international flights.

CP24 has footage of the fire and I'm afraid it's not looking too good. Unconfirmed reports suggest it was an Air France flight that crashed.

i think they are saying it was an airbus.

I live in Etobicoke and can see the smoke from my balcony. The rain was quite heavy here around the time of the crash, comming down in sheets with plenty of thunderstorm activity.

305 passengers and crew. It apparently ran into trouble during landing. It looks like it didn't even reach the start of the runway.

AF 358 from CDG to YYZ. Airbus 340 configured for 252 according to Air France. Reports of buses of pax being transferred to another area at the airport.

all I can say is that those idiots stopped on the side of the 401 ought to be ashamed of themselves...sheesh come on, get a life will ya!

Passengers are running to the 401 to meet the ambulances. People are probably slowing to meet the resulting congestion.

AP is reporting that all passengers were evacuated safely. That would be amazing if that is in fact true.

Apparently they came in too fast - dropped altitude to compensate, then landed too hard and blew a tire and veeere doff the runway. Sounds like more pilot error than equipment failure. But the investigation will commence when they collect the black boxes. It wasn't fully fueled or the explosion would have been much worse.
