Car hop service at A&W. those metal 35mm film cans. Coming home when the street lights came on (didn’t work when out in the bush)
People pay good money for that now.Getting the "Strap" at school, LOL-disciplinary service!
prior to pandemic, do schools still give free milk for school kids?
I never really considered that a "service". LOL.Disciplinary beatings from my mother when I misbehaved, would leave welts and red marks, I deserved it!
Turd version:2nd version:
Some come here to sit and think,
Others come to shit and stink,

And read the bullshit on the walls
used to hear his bell ringing when he walked my street on the weekends. smaller version to this guy's sharpener cartWe still have one in my neighbourhood in the summer.
Corner of Queen and Shelbourne used to have one. Got a fried egg sandwich with a slice of bacon, to go, a couple of times a week, before work. Fore runner of the egg mcmuffin. Circa 1980.I do not know if this sort of thing was in Toronto in the early 80s. There were a few old style neighborhood corner lunch counters where they would have booth seating and a counter with stools. The menu above the counter would have fried egg sandwich or tomato sandwich.
Fast food was moving in fast at that time and made these items unpopular. My dad told me that these were popular working mans menu items after the depression and WWII.
The Parkdale Hotel on Queen St.W. 1958-59. My uncles took me there for my first beer. 15 cents a draft, mind you they were 8 or 10 ounce glasses. Waiter would drop a tray of beers on the table and I watched an old guy on our table grab a couple of empty glasses and put them in a brown paper under the table. Must have walked out with a dozen empties. Still can't believe it. LOL.Used to buy trays or draft beer by the tray for .25 cents apiece
