It's been good to know ya
I like those metal ice cube trays better. The ice cubes were a tad larger and easier to get out. Now I have a prob fighting to get them out of the tray. Plus they were built to last forever.

I only remembered 7 and do not feel old at all.

I only remembered 4

Candy cigarettes
Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes (aka diners - They're making a comeback - I love those)
45 RPM records
Drive-in (also becoming popular for nostalgia buffs)

Worse is that I've met folks who don't remember LP records (grew up with cassettes).

Between a rock and a hard place
Adults graduating from college this year lived their entire lives with microwave ovens, CD players, an AIDS crisis, Some post-genus version of Trivial Pursuit, Cel Phones, Home computers, New Jeopardy, Test Tube Babies, Silicone breast implants, and The Simpsons in one form or another (Cartoon feature of Life in Hell, Tracy Ullman Cartoon Short, or 18-year-old hit series).

Feel old yet? :(

Omg...

I remember 23 of them. :p

I loved those candy ciggs when I was a kid.

My fav 45 way back when was Blue Swede Shoes

How fun it was to go to somebodies place who had a party line and pick up the phone and listen to other people's conversations. LOL.

Hey... how about that song.... "I got a brand new pair of roller skates... and then something about a brand new key? Anybody remember that one?

It was never very much fun though if you were passing your jeans through the wash tub wringer and you got your fingers in there. lol.

"I've got a brand new pair of roller skates, you've got a brand new key"--the name of the Melanie song was 'Brand New Key'. Could be construed as kind of dirty, I guess.

I remembered 15, which is no surprise, given my official "old fart" status (which I have long accepted). I am aware of newsreels, Howdy Doody, and Beany and Cecil, but never saw any of them.

I'm reminded of a line from Star Trek: The Next Generation in the pilot episode when his advanced age is point out, Admiral McCoy remarks, "What's wrong with not having died?"

I think I'm more patient, a better person and a better lover than when I was 20. Youth is OK but age has it's rewards.

I agree with annalee, age is just a number.

Between a rock and a hard place
  1. Blackjack chewing gum - chewed it. hated it
  2. Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water - Had those too
  3. Candy cigarettes - Popeye was my favorite brand
  4. Soda pop machines that dispensed bottles - with a bottle opener on the front
  5. Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes - Before my time but Wimpys still has 'em
  6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers - My dad was the milk man. My real dad. The one who raised me. I wonder who else's dad he was.
  7. Party lines - Just the ones that resulted from Bell Canada Test lines lingering
  8. Newsreels before the movie - Nope
  9. P.F. Flyers - dont you hate it when the original rubber band breaks and your mom gives you a cheap household one to replace it. Just not the same.
  10. Butch wax - Butch what?
  11. Telephone numbers with a word prefix (Olive -6933) - Only in the movies
  12. Peashooters - Those never get old
  13. Howdy Doody - Before my time
  14. 45 RPM records - My first one was Yummy Yummy
  15. S&H Green Stamps - What and what green what?
  16. Hi-fi's - Just the one dad preserved and never played in the living room. Still has that old electronics smell.
  17. Metal ice trays with levers - They still make those dont they
  18. Mimeograph paper - Used it in school to make leaflets for student council in the days when other schools had photocopiers
  19. Blue flashbulbs - why blue
  20. Beanie and Cecil - Werent they puppets who hosted boring kids movies?
  21. Roller skate keys - I roller skated before roller blades and after keys
  22. Cork popguns - Only in bugs bunny cartoons
  23. Drive-in - In my PJs
  24. Studebakers - Before my time
  25. Wash tub wringers - We had one when everyone else had automatic washers We then carried wet laundry to the laundromat to dry. Mom thought hanging your clothes in the backyard was crass.

I experienced 15 of these (Technically 11) I experienced 4 of these as a retro exeprience after their time.
