I bet you just tugged one off while reading that on your limited capable iPhone huh OTB?

Here's something that'll put you off though and make you sad.

The iPhone has a lot in common with, well, the common rock.
How sad.

I didn't know about the crappy multi-tasking until I saw this diagram and did some searching thereafter, that had to hurt, didn't it? lol
Or the lack of customization? Or the ability to move files around the phone, or onto your microSD, err, wait, the iPhone doesn't have that either. lol

Keep bragging how much market share it has, because all it tells me is just how incredibly blind and gullible people are into buying heavily marketed Pieces.O.S.
I think we can take it that every time we see that stupid chart you've lost the argument..... yet again.

Major PC makers plan to concede tablet market to Apple, Amazon in 2012
Makes sense leaving the toys to Apple, while they handle real PCs....;)

Chart hurts doesn't it?
Showing how limited/limiting the iPhone really is, BUT, carriers can't keep up with iPhone orders (thanks to great marketing). lol

HTML 5 is very widespread

OTB
Utterly false.

Other than the childish comments, you're exactly like the woodpeckr.

I've said, MANY times that I think flash is a piece of shit, but I use it because I pretty much HAVE to. You choose to (sorry, are forced to) view crippled web pages. I want to view the full web so having flash is essential.
I will be THRILLED when HTML5 is widespread and replaces flash, but that's not even close to happening.

Again, you don't seem to be getting it. It's NOT ABOUT FLASH. It's about apple telling you what you can and cannot do with your property and not having consistent guidelines on what developers can do. They did the same thing to google voice. That's the real issue here and if you can't see that, then I don't think there's any more I can say.

I do agree with OTB on the chart Cobster. Time to retire it.

Here is one problem with than view:

Major PC makers plan to concede tablet market to Apple, Amazon in 2012

By Sam Oliver

Published: 08:51 AM EST (05:51 AM PST)

Traditional PC makers like Dell and HP believe they have no advantages in the tablet market, and plan to phase out from competing with Apple's iPad, along with low-end tablets from content providers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, in 2012.

Along with Hewlett-Packard and Dell, other "pure" PC makers like Acer and Asus plan to gradually exit the tablet market next year, industry sources told DigiTimes.
The main reason is said to be that they cannot provide content like Apple, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

So far Apple's iPad has dominated the market, representing nearly all of tablets sold, and hooking in users with its vast App Store selection. But new devices from Amazon and Barnes & Noble aim to take the lower end of the market with prices less than half that of Apple's $499 iPad, and make up the difference through sales of content like books, music and movies.

With tablet hardware prices that low, companies like Dell and HP that don't sell content are unlikely to make a profit, as they can't sell the hardware at a loss like Amazon is rumored to be doing with its new Kindle Fire. Industry sources reportedly said they expect devices from Amazon and Barnes & Noble will eventually be offered for free, serving as content platforms for the companies.

And even with their low prices, sales of newly launched touchscreen tablets from Amazon and Barnes & Noble were not as high as Apple's iPad, which industry insiders see as an indication that "strong enthusiasm for tablet PCs has already disappeared."

If accurate, the news that traditional PC makers have lost interest in the tablet market could be bad news for Microsoft, as the company's forthcoming Windows 8 operating system will feature a tablet-friendly interface. The company unveiled its plans on a prototype device designed by Samsung in September.

HP already attempted to penetrate the tablet market with its own hardware, operating system and application ecosystem, much like Apple, but the webOS-powered TouchPad failed to gain any traction and was quickly discontinued by the company. A year earlier the company partnered with Microsoft to release the HP Slate, but that Windows-powered device also failed as Apple's iPad took over the tablet market.

Asus, Dell: We're not exiting the Android tablet business

"As usual, the rumors and reports from Digitimes are incorrect," said Asus spokesman Gary Key. "Asus is not exiting the Android tablet business."

Likewise, a Dell spokesman said the company doesn't have any plans to exit the business either.

An Acer representative wasn't available for comment.

It's never been a good piece of software. It's done well to have lasted for so long but developers can do better. Well done to adobe though, I never would have thought we'd be using it in 2011 when it first became common place.

Until Apple's refusal to support flash on iDevices, Adobe had no incentive to improve the existing technology or change support an emerging standard (ex. HTML5).

Utterly false.

......
Don't take it from me, take it from Adobe:

Mike Chambers :

- Meanwhile, HTML5 is ubiquitous. “On mobile devices, HTML5 provides a similar level of ubiquity that the Flash Player provides on the desktop,” Chambers says.

I'm sure you'll refute the author of the product talking about the next gen product.....

I get your I'm free to smoke even if it kills me argument, I just thought Job's view that it was a waste of time to support a dead product.... he was right, it's dead code walking.

The chart is dated, biased and inaccurate, I mean gorilla glass? Really? Takes an idiot to think it's a balanced study of the devices worth using in a debate.

I don't doubt it is the next generation. I certainly don't buy that HTML5 is everywhere. Perhaps it's common in "mobile" versions of website, but it sure as hell isn't prominent in regular websites and that's what flash gives you the option to view. It's very frustrating when I'm forced onto a mobile version of a website on my tablet when I can view the full site pefectly.

He didn't have to support anything. He just had to gives clear and concise guidelines for what is and is not allowed in the app store. Adobe would have taken care of the rest.
If Jobs was so concerned about users having out of date apps, then he should have sent in his teams to clear out of the 10s of thousands of useless apps from the app store that nobody ever downloads.

Who knows what his motivation was. My theory is that apple wanted to lead the way with HTML5 and implement their own protocols to influence the ratified version. Kicking aside his main competition with false arguments seems to make a lot of sense in that case. We'll never know for sure, but I have zero doubt that he didn't do it as a "favour" to the users of iphones and ipads.

Despite going back and forth, I've noticed you've not commented on what I've stated at least twice is the important issue here. You keep going out about how shit flash is but that's not the core of the issue. You're silence speaks volumes.
Anyway, I'm done on this issue.

The important issue was that some sites can't be viewed without flash (can't remember the last time I went to a site with my iPad that I couldn't view...) and that you should have a choice to use shitty software - I don't think the first is really an issue and I addressed the latter.

Na, until he shuts up with the incessant "omg, look at iPhone dominating market share" or his crap about how much money Apple has, I won't.
If it annoys him, which it does (truth hurts) and he can't address it, oh well.

Juvenile? Unlikely.

It's fairly accurate, but you have yet to refute any of it.
Multi-tasking was an issue for the 3G, correct? On the 4 it's still problematic. lol
iPhone has a microSD slot? Since when?....That'd be great news if it did, very liberating and talk about "freedom" huh?

Replaceable battery?

Customization is there?

Drag'n'drop files? Through the phone and onto the new microSD slot? Can't tell you how convenient and fast that is.

Accurate enough?

How is it shallow? Would like to hear your thoughts on that.
