A cover of the William Bell classic. I missed this one by Jaheim.

I didn't sleep on this Jaheim joint though. Duet with Keyshia Cole. Released back in 2007.

We don't talk about the Isley Brothers enough on this thread. One of the most important black music groups of all time.

Cabbagetown

I uploaded this a few days ago.

Later... with Jools Holland is a weekly TV show on the BBC since 1992. This episode from 2009 features performances by Robert Plant and The Band of Joy, Mavis Staples, Raghu Dixit, Arcade Fire, Adele and Mona. Jules chats with Robert Plant and Mavis Staples.

The CINEPACK, (Xvid .avi) file is my upload. The H.264, (.mp4) version was auto-generated by the site because the online player only plays .mp4 video.

I heard this song on The Groove this morning. Had never heard it, or the group, before. The backup singers to Sly & the Family Stone. Produced by Sly himself. Definitely his signature sound.

This is such a great live performance by Sade. In 2011 when this live performance took place, Ms. Adu was 52 years old. Amazingly beautiful and vocals still stellar. How she doesn't get rated in top 25 vocalist lists of all time is beyond me. This track was the first single released from their debut album, Diamond Life, in 1984. It peaked at #6 on the UK singles chart but only #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and only #35 on the R&B/Soul chart. I guess we weren't ready for Sade just yet but when "Smooth Operator" was released a few months later it went to #5 on the Hot 100 and R&B charts.

the sound here is a little hollow, compared to what i heard on my radio
but i forgot just how great this tune is and that the Rolling stones were expert at finding great songs to cover

This is my favorite hip hop act of all time. This joint is from their 1991 sophomore LP 'Step in the Arena'. A super slept on classic.

"Take a Rest"

The samples are exquisite. DJ Premier at work.

"Funky Miracle" The Meters

"T Plays It Cool" Marvin Gaye

"Right On For the Darkness" Curtis Mayfield
