I much preferred the late 70s and early 80s Evelyn. She sounded more soul/r&b then. This one definitely has more of a standard mid 80s pop feel. Song was featured on the Fright Night soundtrack. Co written by Bobby Caldwell.

Got to add David RuffinMy Mount Rushmore of male R&B/Soul singers.
Marvin Gaye
Luther Vandross
Michael Jackson
The first 3 are set the 4th is a tough call. You can make a very good case for Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, Levi Stubbs (Four Tops), David Ruffin and Eddie |Kendricks (Temptations). But I think I have to go with Smokey who did it so well for so long. Not to mention he wrote for so many other artists.
Smokey Robinson
The last album to feature Ruffin as part of the group. This is one of my favorite Temptations songs. His vocals are immaculate.Got to add David Ruffin

this is new to me....kinda melancholy..in a good way....soulful voice and a nice little tuneGod I love Philly soul. This gem is so underrated. It got lost in all the late 70's heat being produced.
Who Can I Run To? by The Jones Girls
I always knew there was a reason why I loved this song so much. It has origins in soul. Brenda was a looker too.
Totally agree.
just a random Candi Staton song...God blessed her wth an incredible singing voice..imo
It's a cover in defiance of the original song's intended meaning and specific words have been changed.Interestingly, this is a cover of a song titled Voice of Britain by English Neo-Nazi punk band Skewdriver.
Sadly, the song has turned out to be prophetic.
The artist is Sylvia Striplin. Circa 1981
