Digable Planets (cool name btw) were a hip hop trio- Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca and Doodlebug who were part of the relatively short lived genre of hip hop that was heavily influenced by jazz soul. They released 2 albums Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) and Blowout Comb in 1993 and 1994 respectively. I wish they had done more because both of their albums (which I own) are dope classics. My top 3 songs from them:

Borough Check feat. Guru

Right off the bat it sucks you in and for 2+ minutes you are mesmerized. I've played it about 5 or 6 times the past couple of days.

I'm with you on this one, I hate the overuse of that word in current music. While the video is amusing the music is pretty much junk.

Okie I'll admit it's not the greatest song but this tends to be what is considered"popular" with my generation

I much rather listen to the style of Shaggy and Sean Paul

Or even Bob Marley

I'd much rather see you post the music that you like, not necessarily what the current generation is deeming as popular. That's not to say that all current music is this bad, there are some gems to be found still.

Early Leon Sylvers III with the mean ass bass. Dr. Dre sampled it for The D.O.C.'s 'Its Funky Enough'

As you know I'm a huge fan of the Whispers. Leon Sylvers III produced and played bass on a few of their best tracks including this beauty.
