In honor of Valentine's Day a few of the sexier/love themed hip hop songs as heard on DJ Mister Cee's radio show this past weekend.

Marvin and Tammi had that special chemistry.
Dougie.. thanks for posting this....i had forgotten this song.........................Tammi died of a brain tumour at the young age of 24....Apparently Marvin was so affected by her death that he went into a 2 yr depression.....and i dont think that he really ever got over her death and his loss

Yes I think her tragic death affected Marvin throughout the remainder of his life. For whatever reason I think he felt some responsibility for her death.

I believe this is from a 1992 concert performance. One of many Smokey did at the Desert Inn before it closed for good in 2000. At that time a ticket probably cost about $15 or $20. What a steal to see a legend like that. Today $20 at a concert gets you a beverage.

Great live performance from 1978. I love this song to death. One of the greatest basslines in music history. Janice is a stunner too.

Saw Smokey in Vegas in the mid-eighties. I forget which hotel.

I had a seat at a table right next to the stage. Mid-set he asked for requests from the audience. I shouted out "Bad Girl", which was one of his earliest songs. He said "Who say Bad Girl?" I raised my hand, and he came over to me and shook my hand. Then he and the band did a few verses of "Bad Girl". What a show!

Awesome story. Those kind of intimate concert settings are everything.
Smokey was a regular performer in Vegas I think he lived there for over a decade.

Smokey deserves a tribute on this thread, he's a legend. Here's a few of my favorites of his with the Miracles and solo

First we gotta start with 'More Love' released in 1967. Its my favorite. Hit #5 on the R&B charts and #23 on the Hot 100.

Next we have their first #1 R&B hit from 1962. 'You've Really Got a Hold on Me' also hit #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

'Cruisin' was released in 1979 and hit #4 on the R&B and Hot 100 charts. "I can just stay there inside you and love you baby.."

Really my first exposure into Smokey Robinson's music was when he released his 1987 album One Heartbeat. I was a young teen at the time. 'Just to See Her' was my favorite song on there, loved the bass. It reached #2 on the R&B charts and #8 on the Hot 100.

And finally we can't do a Smokey Robinson & the Miracles tribute without including their only #1 hit, 'Tears of a Clown'. Co-written with Stevie Wonder. I can't believe that of their whole discog this was the only song that made it to #1. Just goes to show you how great music was back then I guess. Also noteworthy it was actually a re release in 1970 when it went to #1. The song was actually recorded and released 3 years earlier on their album 'Make It Happen'.

im kinda getting into her music......i wish the instrumental aspects were "tougher"....some horns, a "fatter" bass line and thicker drums.........but she has a great voice...her songs and videos are upbeat, fresh and enjoyable

I love Evelyn. Listen to her first album she was only 17 when it was recorded.
Love Come Down was produced by Kashif who she hooked up with on a lot of her 80's tracks. His production style was more synth/electronic funk driven. Extensive use of the mini Moog, he sorta created his own sound. I personally love it but it may not be your sound preference.

I love this cover of Marvin's Gaye: what's going on.

His guitar has such a clean sound and his voice is great.
