A beauty from the 2-Tone label, during the ska revival in the UK. If this social isolation keeps up long enough I'll dip into my ska and reggae crates to see what's worth posting.
Black music doesn't necessarily mean the artists have to be black. Post it here.Hey K Douglas and ogibowt,
Lots more soul left to post, but I also have some neo-Righteous brothers stuff, about 10 songs, that I'll either post here or in a new thread. Technically blue-eyed soul, but in most cases don't know if the leads are black or white. Most with a Phil Spector style production...
So would you like to see it here, or is it heresy and should I start a new thread?
Love this track. Was sampled extensively by hip hop and r&b artists. The Blackbyrds - Rock Creek Park
Thanks K, but already posted what I was talking about in a new thread, the one mentioning the Righteous Bros.Black music doesn't necessarily mean the artists have to be black. Post it here.
They don't call him the Godfather of Soul for nothing. The discography is so extensive. And the musicians he had backing him were some of the best ever. Fred Wesley, Bobby Byrd, Maceo Parker, Bootsy Collins, Clyde Stubblefield.Ok so here's the full performance by James Brown and at least part of his band at the famous T.A.M.I show in 1964. Long clip but worth it!
They do "Out Of Sight", "Prisoner Of Love", the amazing long version of "Please, Please, Please", and "Night Train'.
The legend is that the Stones, who were headlining the show, didn't want to follow his performance, but they did and the crowd went even more nuts.
"The hardest working man in show business" indeed!!
Nope. Great post IV. I gotta another Chamber Bros. gem.Has this mind fuck been posted yet? I didd Shrooms to this song.
Funky has been sampled more than once, who was the cheeseboy who sampled it in the mid 90's.Famously sampled by A Tribe Called Quest for I Left My Wallet in El Segundo.
I know DJ Quik sampled it as well but he ain't no cheeseboy.Funky has been sampled more than once, who was the cheeseboy who sampled it in the mid 90's.
My favorite Fiddy song. His acting career was scuttled when Samuel L Jackson got in his grill for being late to a shoot.
great post Dougie….I discovered Dyke& The Blazers when I heard So Sharp being played on a soul station from Buffalo in my youth and years later I bought a CD of them in Kops Collectables on Queen St
Mind blowin'
