Whew. That's it for tonight. One more night should do it, and I'll get back to posting Deep Soul...

Inspired by xmontrealer's trove of Northern Soul shares, this tidy little gem was released by British soul singer Mica Paris in 1988. The 80's saw a mini soul invasion from the UK with artists like Soul II Soul, Loose Ends, Billy Ocean and of course Sade achieving chart success in North America.

From her 1988 album So Good (appropriately titled( this is "My One Temptation"

This is Terry Ellis. A superb voice and original founding member of the female R&B quartet, En Vogue. This song is beautiful. Produced by Foster & McIlroy.

Speaking of En Vogue. I still have their original CD recording of their debut album 'Born to Sing' released in 1990. Its one of the best r&b albums of the 1990's no doubt. It spawned three #1 hits including "Hold On", "Lies" and this track "You Don't Have to Worry" which kicked some nice New Jack Swing flavor. Cindy Herron with the lead vocals

En Vogue's second album was Funky Divas. Not quite as good as their debut but still a very solid effort. This was my favorite track from it. The harmonies are incredible. This time it was Maxine Jones with the lead vocals.

I miss the girl group era of the 1990's.
