I was told that Drake sampled a song from the 70's for his big hit....co-owner of AC Milan.

Drake was dating Serena Williams at the time.

I'm not a Drake fan but I appreciated the artistry of this record. Its from the 'Views' album which I consider his best work.

This tune was written by Neil Sedaka and first recorded by Patti Drew. But I love this rendition, especially because of that divine bassline.

Jazz pianist Bob James was amazing. Several of his pieces were used as classic samples in hip hop. Here's a selection of some of those

1. Westchester Lady

Sampled by Jazzy Jeff on 'Here We Go Again'

2. Nautilus

Sampled by RZA for Ghostface Killah's 'Daytona 500'

3. Look-Alike

Sampled by Hurby Luv Bug for Kwame the Boy Genius' 'The Rhythm'

This is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, released in 1988. The debut album for rap group EPMD - Eric and Parrish Makin' Dollars.

Title track - Strictly Business samples I Shot the Sheriff by Bob Marley
"Its like Beam Me Up Scotty
I control your body
I'm as deadly as AIDS
When its time to rock a party"

Fav track is 'Im Housin'
Great sample of Aretha Franklin's 'Rock Steady'

'Its My Thing'
The main sample is The Whole Darn Family's 'Seven Minutes of Funk' which goes down as one of the funkiest jams I've ever heard.

Guru from Gang Starr is my ATF emcee. My 2nd favorite is Philly's own Schoolly D. And my 3rd favorite is the Big Daddy Kane, or simply The Kane. Flows like the Nile.

Here's 3 of his more underrated joints

Niggaz Never Learn produced by the Large Professor

'Its Hard Being the Kane' produced by Prince Paul

'Mortal Combat' produced by Easy Mo Bee

Been so busy with life I didn't even realize that Bobby Caldwell passed away last Tuesday. Damn RIP.
This is my favorite song of his, I'm sure I've posted it here before. The piano riff is everything. And of course Bobby's voice - blue eyed soul perfection.
