A.I. has a chance to replace Isiah Thomas as best 6 footer ever to grace the NBA, however, he must win an NBA championship first in order to accomplish that.

Unfortunately, remaining in Phily isn't going to help his cause.

Historically, Phily is known as a losing sports city (apart from some Flyer cups in 70s). Even the great Sir Charles held on waaaaay too long there.

A.I. is only 30 with alot left in the tank. I think he would look great along side Kevin Garnett.

But to win a championship he'd probably have to "PRACTICE".

He's not quite as bad now but I still consider him a punk and not deserving of any sympathy for not having won it all.

A.I. is a special player. Few NBA stars have that rare combination of skill and desire to win. But as San Antonio and Detroit have proven, it now takes a near all-star TEAM to win the championship. A team with two all-stars (a la Jordan-Pippen or Shaq-Kobe) and not much else, is no longer enough.

At present, the Sixers are not a title contender. The east has two top teams (Detroit and Miami) and both do not require a shooting guard. A.I. may have to consider another address if winning it all, matters to him.

I agree that AI is probably a punk.... But nobody plays the game harder than A.I (at least in the offensive zone) he gives up his body when going to the hoop..

If he would become a better student of the game it might help him.... I don't have alot of sympathy for him... but I do think that both he and Philly need to make a change... the problem is that if Philly trades him they give up 20 wins.....

I don't know where you get team of all stars?

San Antonio has Duncan(all world) and Manu(who is a budding star), parker is a good PG, but not an all-star and the rest are just team players

Detroit only has only one guy who went to the all star game(Ben Wallace), the rest are good players

Miami has 2 stars, Shaq fu and Flash, the rest are roll players

Phoenix has the most all stars(3), nash, stoudemire and marion with 2 good players in Q and Joe, but they are down 3-0 in the series

So this play-off has shown that you must play quality defense to get a title, not the amount of nba all-stars(as per phoenix example).

...though I also think many people (including me) would disagree with you re: Tony Parker. He is very, very good...it isn't all about gaudy numbers. Tony Parker is a point guard in the spirit of Maurice Cheeks...a guy how runs the offense, who is perfectly happy not getting the assist, but is content to make the pass that sets up the pass that creates the basket (too bad they don't hand out more than one assist a basket like in hockey). He is very talented - he demonstrates that every time he goes up against someone whom he can create a mismatch against that his coach wants to exploit (again, see Steve Nash and the series just closed out), but he craves neither attention, nor stats. A quiet force who plays and conducts himself with dignity. And BTW, quick as all hell...

The Maurice Cheeks comparison I think is dead on...but overall you are right, it is team defense and a structured, disciplined offense that takes you to the promise land...ala the Spurs and the Pistons (though I am cheering for Shaq)

Holden,

I didn't mean the team with the most individual all-star players. Maybe I should have said the team with the best team chemistry. Guys that don't let their egos get in the way of winning. San Antonio and Detroit don't have any shit-disturbers on their team. Yes, Rasheed used to be with Portland but he's now playing more team-oriented ball.

Glad to see the Spurs return to the finals. It will be a great match-up with either Miami (Flash in his first NBA finals) or Detroit (a battle for all the marbles between the last two champs).
