Trump's comment was an articulation of the frustration of the American people over Clinton's ability to avoid responsibility for her actions by criminally destroying evidence (that's a REAL example of obstruction of justice, btw). The e-mails he was talking about were already long gone. If the Russians hacked her server, and thereby had copies, it was done long before Trump was even a candidate. You can't hack a wiped server (which was the state of the server at the time of Trump's comments)! Rather, it would have been a startling demonstration of the irresponsibility of Clinton if it turned out that any 3rd party, Russian or otherwise, could produce the deleted e-mails. That was Trump's point. Claiming that Trump was actually calling on Russian hackers to engage in hacking to find the e-mails is just plain stupid. No other word for it.
